Hi, friends! You've just received an email informing you of how I've updated my blog. You may be thinking "What blog?" or "Why am I receiving this update?" or maybe you've thought nothing of it. But either way, I just wanted to explain what it's all about. As most of you know, since my days at language school in Cuernavaca over two years ago, I've become accustomed to blogging about my bigger travel adventures. And so I am preparing to do the same again here soon, using the same site as before. This time my tales will be about the month long trek Anne and I will be making through Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador. And so in thinking that you might be interested in reading about our South American Adventure (either because you already told me ... read more

Well today was a busy busy busy day! We started the day off at the Saint Louis Arch. If you know my father you will know he doesn't like lines so even though we weren't planning on jetting off too early, as soon as he saw the whites of my eyes I was urged to get ready so we could "get on the road." Mind you that was at 7am! Regardless we ended up at the base of the Arch just as it was opening for business. Let me tell you that pictures do not do it justice! It stands 630 feet above the ground and its just massive! You have to descend to an underground area which houses a musuem and a theater and some shops and you can buy a ticket to ride up ... read more

Today a friend Melany and I headed out from KC and did a 700 mile loop through KS, OK, AR and MO to get ABC’s of Touring points and some Presidential Race points. She was on her Harley and I was on my 2005 Harley Sporster. We had a blast. But one of the things we pulled over to enjoy was the “Little House on the Prairie House”. Riding on HWY 75 we saw the sign and I asked Mel if she was up for a ‘drive by’ to see it. With a smile on her face she says “sure”. It was 2.5 miles off the hwy were we on. When we pull up I pulled out the camera to get a picture from the road, but Mel makes it clear that we will be going ... read more

Most of these blogs are about trips I have taken with my Harley Davidson Sportster. A 2005 883cc Low model I have travelled the US with it. It makes travel much cheaper as it gets 50MPG, but anyway this is a day trip I took from KC on a Wednesday. I had been wanting to get back to Greensburg but just hadn't made it so I decided to do it the first decent day that I could get off. So in 2007 I ran through Greensburg KS and Mullinville KS on the way home from Colorado. I stopped and took pictures of these whirly gigs that were located along the highway (hwy 54). They were labeled as KANZA ART and I wrote a blog just about them . Well this year I headed out to go ... read more

In late 2007 I wanted to make it back to Greensburg KS to see the rebuilding. If you recall Greensburg was totally wiped out by a tornado the first week in May of 2007. In late June I had rolled through Greensburg on the way home from a trip to CO and stopped to take pictures. Here is the original blog . Well I didn’t make it back in 2007 and all of the summer of 2008 I wanted to go, but that trip always seemed to get sidelined for other trips. I had been watching the ‘Greensburg’ TV series on the Green Channel about how they were rebuilding green and hope to be the first Leeds certified platinum town. The last show had just aired and it was going to be getting colder, so I ... read more

I've had this blog set up for over a month now and I decided it's probably about time that I write something, especially since I'll be jet-setting to Ecuador tomorrow. Monday I'll be at the Hacienda Sta. Martha in the Andes playing with all sorts of fun animals. "Playing" here basically means cleaning up their poop and building fun new enclosures for them. It should be fabulous. I packed my rubber boots. My 8 lb. rubber boots and the reason I'll be wearing one of 2 outfits in every photo I post on here for the next year since nothing else will fit in my backpack... I'm a big ball of mixed emotions: excitement, fear, more excitement, sadness, even more excitement, and oh-geez-I-don't-know-any-Spanish. I'll try to post a few times while I'm there, but I have ... read more

I went on a Poker run this morning. I took the Jeep. Yep, I wussed out and took the Jeep. Yesterday we had 6.5 inches of rain. Its been raining for 3 days. It rained all night and was still raining this morning. I thought about taking the bike, but decided it was not worth the risk of going down. So I took the jeep. I had promised the shriners that I would cover the poker run for Thunder Press or I would not have gone at all. I had to go into work at 6am on Saturday so I could complete my work and still make the 8AM registration. I really didn’t think they would hold it, the whole area is in a flash flood alert. The route would be out in the country, surely ... read more

I’m really starting to fall behind on my daily blogging, and I apologize if any of you worry about me when I don’t blog daily. It is not that I don’t enjoy blogging, I just have a lot of things I have been doing with old friends. When I have the time I like to blog. And I know the days of this trip are coming to an end. I will be home in 6 days! Ok, time to do some catching up. Thursday afternoon I headed to Lincoln and over to Rick and Wanda’s, like I probably mentioned in the last entry. We had dinner together, then Jared and I headed into Best Buy and get The Office season 4 on DVD. Rachel came over and we all watched The Office for a while, good ... read more

Headed to Boulder to visit Jen's college roommate. Had a great time visiting with the LaPut's and meeting their son Jonas. After watching some football, oh say it ain't so Tommy, it was time to hit the road. Our wish to stay in Kanorado was short lived, with a population of 276, can you believe there were no hotels?! So we headed to the next big city, Colby Kansas, "The Oasis On The Plains", population 5450. We stayed at the nicest hotel in town, Holiday Inn Express & Suites. 288 miles of travel in the day, 1,370 miles total. 25N to (36N-36S-25S Boulder Detour) to 70E.... read more

Greetings! Sometimes your that bat...& sometimes your the ball, as my friend Pewamo likes to say. This weekend I get to participate in the first annual Lawrence Busker Festival. Along with my band, Zydeco Tougeau, we did not have to travel a long ways to participate, but it was fun & Educational. The thing I really like about performing on the street is the close contact with the "audience", who often become part, or the main attraction, of the show. This is really true of little kids... When we can get one or more cute little kids dancing on the sidewalk, they become the "main attraction" & we become the accompanyment,,,,, which is fine with me. Also, it's fun to get people who are on their way somewhere else, to stop, & listen & sometime dance, ... read more
