Straight to the track this morning ! The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Track, where they run the Indianapolis 500 each May, the biggest event on the American Racing calander. The Formula One was also run there. We took a drive around the track in a bus, the tour guide gave us a good run for our $3.00 entry ticket. The museum has many of the winning cars from the previous 500 races. All in pristine condition, Geoff's favourite were the cars from the 1930's. The whole complex is fully enclosed and is the size of a suburb at home. We drove into downtown Indianapolis and went to the baseball field where the Indians play. We were lucky enough to have a personal tour of the field, given by the head groundsman . Our Tomi girl... gps, then ... read more

We took the scenic route along the Ohio river into downtown Louisville. Crossed the river into Indiana to see the Old Ohio Falls and the exposed fossil beds.. 350m years old. Back again into Kentucky to see the paddlesteamers in the port of Louisville, where we had a great lunch of shrimp and crab at "Joes Crab Shack" the best we've had, ever... I think ! We had a great surprise waiting for us at Church Hill Downs, the racetrack where the Kentucky Derby is run (in 2 days time).... there was a race meeting on, so we joined the crowd, paid our $1.00 to get in and stood on the fence and watched the 5th race. Took in all the atmosphere and had an iced tea ! Completed the day driving north to Indianapolis.... read more

As of tomorrow I leave in two weeks. I am exited about my trip. I have bought just about everything that I need. I even found my Euros I have from when I went to England ten years ago! I can't believe it has been that long since I have needed a passport to go anywhere! I have planned out what Stephanie and I will be doing while in Athens. I probably have planned too much but once we get there we will just take it a day at a time. We are planning on seeing many museums in Athens as well as the Parthenon at the Acropolis, we are planning on going to Attica, and going to the coast to see the Temple of Athena. A few weeks ago, I was able to meet everyone ... read more

Church this morning. Mostly a proper church. Worship was good, though I only knew one of the songs. The message was different than I’m used to, so I didn’t follow it so well, but other liked it. It was fun to see the kids again after a few days. They did a few songs. After church, we loaded up the bus and headed to Sandi Patty’s house. Yep. She had us over to play and have dinner. Very fun. We were supposed to swim but it was too rainy. The kids LOVED playing Wii though. They were crazy! Sandi and her family were amazing hosts. (She met the kids when they were in Indy for 3 weeks or so doing shows with her.) I got some work done; had to retape a new video snake. That ... read more

We had to get up a bit earlier today. So we could… I’m not really sure why. We went to Denny’s for Kyle and Anne to get something to eat, then we got Sharye and went into town. Indianapolis, that is. We wandered around the mall for a bit, where Sarah and I ended up in a bookstore. Imagine that. There’s this great chocolate place where we all met and had chocolate fondue. Yum. It was pretty amazing. Then we all went back to the bookstore. Sarah and I had some stimulating conversation, and I bought a new book (as I will be finishing this one soon.) Right now I’m reading a book by a woman who was an English colonist who grew up in war-torn Africa. It’s called “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight.” ... read more

My alarm went off this morning at 10. It’s just a ringer on my phone, but it’s always the same ringer. My first thought was, “I bet it’s one of those stinking kids and there will be no one on the other line!” Like a prank call. Funny. There was in fact no one on the other line, but there wasn’t supposed to be. I got some work done this morning, emails and phone calls and whatnot. Then we all went to Starbucks and lunch. Came back to the hotel for more work and lots of reading. Sarah and Kyle were all over the place, with pillow-fighting, and tickling and all sorts of noisy. I got quite a bit of work done, regardless, and I am getting pretty far in my book. And I made some ... read more

Show this morning. Good. The crew was great all through the two days, but not so good at following directions on the out, kinds of got us out of order. Oh well. We made it. Kyle and I had some zillions of phone calls to make, so I accompanied him in the truck. We got several advances done, which was great, and then sang and chatted a lot. We stopped in Edinburgh to pee. Edinburgh, Indiana, that is. We were only in two states- Kentucky and Indiana. We drove through several places it had flooded and was still quite wet. We also saw some baby goats that were so cute! And some calves smaller than Rosco Wilson. Only the crew is at the hotel, everyone else is in host families. We went to Texas Roadhouse for ... read more

Hello blogger friends: Today I got to spend most of the day in our motel room, except for a brief drive this afternoon. That was cool, I had time to catch up on some zzzzzz's which of course I am always ready for! This morning my masters went to church with their friends, Skip and Mary. The name of he church was Southport Presbyterian Church--a very evangelical church. It was a beautiful Palm Sunday service. The pastor delivered a monologue as "Reuben", the man who owned the donkey that Jesus sent his disciples to get before entering Jerusalem. It was very well done, and combined with the bellringer choir, youth choir and adult choir, made for a great time of worship. My masters attended the 9:30 AM service, which was one of three held every Sunday ... read more

Hi everyone: Well today was our longest day in the car yet! We left Eau Claire at 9:00 AM EDT and arrived here in Greenwood, IN at 7:30 PM! Boy was I glad to get out of the back seat! Now I am not complaining as I have the whole seat to myself - but being in the motel room sure beats it!! Especially that carpeting that I can slide along and enjoy scratching my back on!! It was a rather uneventful day - just travel! We have a couple of pictures for you. My masters were taken out for supper by their hosts, Skip and Mary, long-time friends of my master. It was Sharon's first time meeting them. They are very special people and so gracious and kind. We look forward to going to church ... read more

I go to NZ. I guess I am going to blog a little on how I feel about my trip. I am excited and worried. I have always wanted to travel the world and research people and their cultures. New Zealand will be my test project. For a month I will be traveling the country, meeting people, and exploring. I hope to come back with some good research to be placed in a life long book of learning. I feel this will be a success. I am worried about losing a month with my son and fiance. Little guy and I have never been separated in the 5 years since he was born. Sara will take good care of him and his mother had better be cordial. His mother's action are my biggest worry. Anyway, I ... read more
