It’s hard to believe that a destination so remote, so exotic and so magnificent could be part of the United States. But Hawaii is all of that, and so much more. When you picture a perfect paradise in your imagination, chances are it looks a lot like Hawaii. Its waters so blue, they seem other-worldly. Its beaches pristine, you feel as if you could be the first human who ever stepped foot onto the smooth glimmering sand. Its forests so lush, they shine like newly cut emerald. Its sunsets so brilliant, the sky seems ablaze with fire. Its volcanoes so imposing, you can only stand back and stare in awe at the wonders nature. People who have traveled to Hawaii save a piece of it in their hearts. Honeymooners cherish the golden days of unbridled romance. Families ... read more

Well, we took off on September 11, and that was scary enough as it was, but it was also while IKE was on the way to Houston and I was pretty nervous about not being at home (which is crazy, I know!). We had a good flight over, short flight to Denver, plane change, so got to stretch, then short flight to LA. Got there early in the day so we rented a car and drove around to see the sights. Went to Venice Beach and checked all the RV'rs there then drove on over to Malibu and have an early dinner at a restaurant on the beach. The next day we took the trip to Maui, again arrived early in the day. Did not do much but check in to the Condo resort & go ... read more

I'm baaaack! So, as promised, I'll keep you guys posted to whats going on out here in Hawaii. Lets see... I survived my first week of work.. (the most hours I've worked in a week in over 3 months :) ...) So far, so good. The company is really great and everyone is really friendly. I found a place to live. The pictures below are of my initial residence upon arrival. It was right in Waikiki (near where we were this summer)... but too much $$$ so I've since moved (today) to a new and better location, just outside of Waikiki- (less tourists!!) So I'll post pictures of that later. Nothing much else to report- Enjoy the pics! Miss you all. Allison... read more

... read more

... read more

HAWAII The Journey… Our flight here was our worst flight so far and indeed of the whole trip (now I am writing this at home!). Jetstar are the budget airline of Quantas, where you pay for all the extras - food, drinks, pillow, blanket, earphones etc. But because our RTW ticket was a BA/Quantas one, we did get all that stuff included (except the portable DVDs of which we bought x2 for the kids @ £15 & they didn’t really use). The process however, was a painful and annoying one. Those passengers who qualified were scribbled on a piece of paper with the aircrew handing them out. Drinks and food took ages to work their way through and I don’t know if the seats were really more uncomfortable or if it were just knowing we were ... read more

The clouds rolled in this morning whilst we slept, and encamped themselves between the mountains. They now cling stubbornly to the rooftops, heavy with monsoonal rain, refusing to budge until they’ve unburdened themselves of their load. There seem far fewer people out on the street this morning even though the same amount of people need to run the same amount of errands and the same amount children need to go to school. Our plans are clearly a washout, warranting one of those lazy days, reading books, picking from the menu and generally enjoying the leisurely side of travel. We’re not in Maui, we're actually sitting in Tibetan Lodge, Dali, China. And since we now have a full day at our disposal we thought we might finally post our wedding/honeymoon pics from last year. ... read more

AWESOME is the only word to describe it... you go out about 1 mile off shore and get lowered into the water sitting on a scooter with a bubble head! it has air pushed into it from tanks and you zoom around the bottom of the ocean and feed the fish.. it was pretty cool... read more

Well we have the tshirts to prove it... however I will never do it again!! It was exhilarating but terrifying.. sharks were mainly galapagos sharks which ranged from 5ft to over 15ft and they were inches... make that millimetres away from you. I did not enjoy it at all and should have stayed on the boat with the other 2 women but couldnt let the side down!! so I sucked it in and did it.... never again.. freakin scary.. the cage looks like it is made out of like matchsticks with nylon ropes holding the cage to the boat which the sharks could have bitten through in half a second.. the dudes on the boat had to keep shaking the ropes to stop the sharks biting them.. occassionally they threw out fish to the sharks just ... read more
