Alooooha!! This is the final entry of our fabulous summer in paradise. We survived our 13 hours of travel and are both home safe... yet luggage-less!! (but no worries, we should be getting our bags by tonight). Anyhow here are the pictures of our last week on the island. In other news, I am planning on returning to Hawaii in approximately 10 days! I got a job offer as a Marketing Assistant for an HR company- soooo my time in paradise has yet to come to an end. I will try and keep up the blog with any interesting events and updates... I'm hoping for lots of visitors :) Mahalo, Allison ... read more

Aloha Everyone- I'm sorry it has taken so long for the updates, we moved to a new "apt" (basically a hotel room with a miniature kitchenette) for the remainder of our stay... and we have no internet. :( So I'm writing to you from Starbucks. Here are the photos from Jackie's long weekend in Waikiki- Aug 6-11th. Enjoy!!... read more

I have arrived in Hawaii. Where I am staying in Honolulu there is a big pool, sauna & spa, all surrounded by palm trees. Everywhere is bursting with music & happy people. The first thing I did was go to see Waikiki beach and take a swim. There are some strange trees here with roots hanging down from high up. They are called Indian Banyan trees. I saw children and adults swinging on the roots. Lots of lovely trees and all sorts of plants and flowers grow here. Next day I went on an Island bus trip with the most entertaining guide/driver. We saw lots of Oahu Island including a pineapple plantation. I saw bananas and papayas growing too. The scenery is spectacular. I went on a train ride there and met a man Hawaiian dressed ... read more

Found our hotel. It was brilliant once again. We’ve done really well with accommodation. This time a large apartment with sitting area and well equipped kitchen. We did NOT do any cooking apart from preparing our own breakfast. Here there was a pool, sauna & spa, all surrounded by palm trees etc. Everywhere is bursting with music & happy, laid back people. The first thing I did next morning was a scuba diving lesson in the deep part of the pool. Not sure if I’d pay to go out & dive somewhere really deep. Need more practice. The next thing was to take a swim in the warm, blue, very buoyant sea on Waikiki beach. Next day was an Island bus trip with the most entertaining guide ever. We saw lots of Oahu Island including pineapple ... read more

Welcome to our new travel blog. To start with we'll have to play some catch up, as we've done some traveling prior to starting this. Once we've got our photos sorted out we'll post additional blogs about some places we've been (Paris, Japan and around the Hawaiian islands).... read more

Lion dances, street fairs, fireworks, plus 2,008 performers (per event!) in Beijing, all for Ashley's birthday!! I tried to capture some shots of the cute little kids as lion dancers, but darn them, they just wouldn't stay still, and my camera doesn't have an action setting. The opening ceremonies of the Beijing olympics were playing, but the stubborn rain and tar-y smoke from some Chinese cigarettes made it hard to appreciate. Lucky for me my mother taped it all so I could watch it from the comfort of my own couch. Or maybe it wasn't luck, it was just the auspiciousness of the day...... read more

Granted I'm only 24 (it's not too late to send birthday presents, in case you forgot), yet I see more and more of my peers resorting to the unthinkable: internet dating. Not that there's anything wrong with match.com, if you're ugly and have no social skills (no offense Adam), but we're so young! Isn't finding that one perfect match the reward of years of torment making the wrong choice? However, I digress. The point is, my friends who have gone on dates with people they meet online always report back that the profile picture of their computer Casanova is grossly deceptive. And I do mean gross. One friend in particular mentioned her disappointment that her own honesty in profiling herself was not reciprocated. She felt that the portrait of her 35 year-old match should have been ... read more

Before it was time for me to go home, I decided to see two good friends again on Hawaii. We spent, like in Vancouver, a great time together. We visited two other Islands (Kauai and the Big Island) and we did our first parachute jump together. AMAZING !!!!!!... read more
