We woke today around 8:30am after quite a sound and well deserved sleep. We got up, showered and made our way down for breakfast. Today I went for the pancakes with raspberry sauce and whipped cream, some bacon and a cup of fruit.
During breakfast we had decided to leave the parks until a bit later in the day to get some time by the pool in the sun. It was stunning until all of a sudden these dark grey clouds came across and then started the torrential downpour. Even though it was pouring it was still hot so it didn’t bother us much but eventually we filled in a little time in the room and got ready to catch our shuttle at 1:05pm to Magic Kingdom.
We got there and went to will call to collect our tickets. This time we got arm bands instead of cards; for only an extra $12 it was so much more convenient than pulling the card out every time we needed to scan it, and we'd be using them for the next three days for all of the Disney Parks. After collecting our bands we jumped on the monorail to head to the park.
On arrival we got the stock standard photos out the front then moved through bag check and then to the next window where you scan your band then you fingerprint at the same time. When inside we got our photos with Cinderella's Castle then moved on in search of Peter Pan's Flight, this was our first express pass ride for the day. It was cool; you sit in a cart that hung from the roof like you were flying through Neverland.
Next up was Space Mountain. This was an indoor rollercoaster, quite cool. Then we found some Minnie and Mickey ears to try on just for some laughs. On our way to our next ride we jumped on the Mad Hatter's Tea Party (tea cups). It was at this point that is started bucketing down again, another torrential downpour. Everyone bolted for cover; it didn’t last long though, maybe only 5mins. When it cleared we did a couple more rides then jumped on the monorail to head to the Epcot Centre.
Epcot was cool, very educational. We went on a few rides here before walking through the world showcase area. Here, they have different areas for a variety of different countries showcasing their different foods, goods and a ride for each. The first one was Mexico, then Norway then China. We went into Mexico briefly before skipping Norway and going into China for dinner. We ate at a place called Nine Dragons.
I started with a cocktail called Heavenly Clouds (Coconut rum, honeydew melon, liqueur, pineapple juice and cream float) it was delish! Then, instead of getting a main I got two appetizers; one of veggie spring rolls and the other of chicken dumplings, just the right amount.
After dinner it was time for the 9:00pm fireworks show, and it was fantastic. At this point Nick was knackered so headed back to the hotel so Marnee and I jumped back on the monorail to Magic Kingdom as it was open until 11:00pm. We wanted to try and get some of the rides done that we'd missed earlier when it was raining and lightning about. Apparently if there is lightning within 3mile radius of the park they shut down all the outdoor rides.
By the time we got there though we managed only one more ride but we also got a second lot of fireworks, so that was good. As we were leaving the park, there was a projected display on Cinderella's Castle that was playing music to different Disney movies. We caught the monorail back to the car park, then the shuttle to the hotel. We go back around midnight and Marnee and I got ice-creams from the lobby and ate them on the balcony for a bit as it was so nice and warm outside. We headed to bed just before 1:00am.
