I took my time about loading, hoping the rising sun would warm the Gulf Coast landscape quickly. I fired the engine at 7:25 a.m., gassed at a Shell station in Gulfport, got onto eastbound I-10 and settled in for a day in the saddle. This was the first time I'd ridden any part of I-10 along the Gulf Coast on this bike and the ride began to feel like an adventure somewhere after Mobile, as I crossed into the Florida Panhandle. I stopped at the first rest area inside Florida for a snack, to check in with my wife and to shoot a photo of the bike with my phone. Lunch was a hasty one at the Chipley, Fla. Wendy's. I turned south on I-95 at Jacksonville, finally shedding my jacket liner somewhere north of Palm ... read more

February 27, Friday Another pack-up of camp, we are actually getting pretty good at this by now, and a quick run down Interstate 4 to the Day's Inn. This was to be a pleasant chance to sleep warm. I went looking for heaters again, and we ended up eating out for supper at Logan's - a steak house. February 28, Saturday After a lazy morning, we repacked our few "hotel" things, and off we went on back roads to Bunnell and the BMW reserved campground. Lots of Harleys riding by in various directions. The cost for this little venture was $20 per person per night, with no water available, and of course no electric. The tent area was nice though, with a few trees for shade - unneeded sadly - and the ground was reasonably firm. ... read more

Dear Family & Friends (and complete strangers who may stumble upon this in cyberspace.) I've set up this blog so that Traci and I can keep you all up to date on our progress when we are away on an adventure. We may or may not be grammatically correct at all times; please don't hold that against us. :-) I wish I would have thought of this before our trip to Ecuador - that would have been an even better opportunity to give this a try. At any rate, better late than never, and we've got a phenomenal, albeit last minute, trip coming up for our Holiday vacation. So, here's some details. We're making a list and checking it twice of all sorts of must-see's/do's along the way. We'll keep you updated with photos and words ... read more

Daytona Beach Having flown in to Florida INT airport late in the afternoon we shacked up in a motel for the night. The first thing to strike you when you leave the domestic flights terminal is the humidity, fans all over the garage level just move damp warm air around. An auspicious start to a relaxing break. The next day, after a relatively decent night’s sleep we picked up our hire car and drove straight down to Daytona Beach. The journey was 214 miles and no turns, just one long, straight and flat road with some of the most torrential rain I have ever seen. On arriving in Daytona it immediately struck me as the setting to GTA3. You feel like you have stepped back 30 years, and that feeling doesn’t change once you enter the ... read more

So...it seems that my luggages can not weigh over 50lbs. So they're like 49.6lbs. WIN!!! hehe! So I leave tomorrow for Japan...at 7:07, and i'm sure i'll be cranky as hell if anyone gives me crap. So let's just hope for the best tomorrow. Since people have been asking, I'll be on the planes for 5 hours, have a 2 hour layover and then 11 until I'm in Japan. So that's a whole lot of time to do mindless activities :) But once i'm in Japan...i'll be sure to update again!! Peace!... read more

As it was Bike Week and Saturday was a big event day we decided to drive down to Datona and look at the bikes (Wayne was very excited!). The road was packed with Harleys everywhere. We got to the Speedway and parked, the site was huge and there were millions of people and bikes, lots of stalls with bikes and bike accessories and of course T-shirts. We looked around at everything, and even saw OC Choppers of the telly. We stopped for a sit down at the Harley area and watch a demo on bike control at slow speeds - not the most exciting thing to see but apparently really good as Wayne bought all the DVD’s! We then got in the car and headed to the beach. It’s the only beach I’ve ever driven down, ... read more

Early Tuesday morning I was in the air well on my way to sunny Florida. The flight was laughable as the 757 aircraft was a former America West plane repainted to mesh with US Airways fleet. The guy sitting next to me and I were joking about the delay announced before we boarded due to a mechanical issue (despite the plane having been on the ground for 2 hourse before our flight). Once on board the overhead TVS (read: 15" crt monitors from 1985, some turning greenin the corners from magnetic interference and almost all displaying slightly different color tones and) began to run though the safety features of "our" aircraft........including the permitted use of personal electronics, such as a personal CD player. In a time when there are iPOD vending machines at the airport would ... read more

OK, so i know that i am 24 years old and I would normally not go so crazy over Disney Characters but today i felt like I was 5 years old again. We walked around the Magic Kingdom probably 3 times. I took pictures with every character that i could get to mostly because i knew it would be a long time before i got to go back. Hopefully, we will come back when my nieces are older. That would be amazing to see their faces see what i have seen today.... read more
