27th September; drove to San Diego. The drive was OK except it got a little hairy just before the LA turnoff. San Diego looks really nice. It is tidy and clean; the Westfield shopping center was nice! American people (on the whole so far) are really polite; sirs, ma’ams all over the place! Here's the one you've all been waiting for... 18/09/05 Bishop CA We set off early as we had a long distance to cover, made good progress, reaching Coaldale by 11 am, our biker friend was correct it is nothing but derelict buildings, the main reason it gets a mention on maps is because it is at the junction of Highway 6 and Highway 95. We turned onto the 6 and continued on our way. We had planned to stop at Coaldale for lunch, but as the riding was easy we pressed on, stopping at about 12.30pm for energy bars and Gatorade (lunch is becoming sooooooo predictable). Tomorrow, I'll be headed off on British Airways from LAX to begin my journey: one academic year to go study abroad. Location - Madrid, Spain Purpose - Practice the language, immerge myself in the culture, learn new things, explore, be familiar with the unfamiliar, TRAVEL, find things about myself I won't know until later. Return - July 2007 School - Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Int'l Programs 2005-2006 I'll be doing the homestay, living with a Senora Juanita Cerv. Left Vegas after that and we spent last night in Barstow, a little town with the distinction of having once been the number 1 meth producer in the USA (according to the nice young man I met at the motel after hours window who was “going out to get drunk”)! Left Barstow the next morning, and thank goodness we saw a Starbucks. The coffee you get at motels etc is crap. We had McDonalds for breakfast, so we now know what biscuits and McGriddles are. Hi All, Well we are still working a fair bit, but harvest has really yet to start. Only one red has come in and not much white either, so im sure it will get very busy in the next week. We got to see Napa last weekend which was realy nice but there is way to many tourists, and we also got to see red wood forest which was a nice drive.
