(Oak Glen CCC) I almost feel like I need to introduce myself again! We are well, and things are still terrific, however, I took a week off and went to North Dakota to visit my grandma, and other family members. (It’s REALLY cold in ND!) Getting back on track after that always takes a few days….doesn’t seem like it used to, but it sure does now! As of Thursday, the guys had finished their bathrooms, and are going to concentrate on the group bathrooms in one of the lodges. We are finished at noon Tuesday, so they’re not sure what all they’ll get finished. We are finished painting in the chapel and the office, and Monday we’re scheduled to paint the front, sink area, of the bathroom the guys are working on. They’re changing some showers ... read more

(Oak Glen Christian Conference Center) Well, it’s been quite a week: The snow is gone now, the paths are very visible, and the area is as beautiful as it was with the snow. We finished painting in the chapel, and are ready for our next assignment. The men are still working on their bathrooms, but it sounds like they may be on that assignment until the end of the project. I’d like to say we’re sooo much better than they are, but in reality it’s because they have many places that need bathrooms remodeled. Thursday afternoon we had a special treat, as some friends of ours from Billings, Mike and Joan Matz, were in the area, and they came to see our camp, and our living style. It was wonderful for us to be able ... read more

(Oak Glen Christian Conference Center) This is the first day we’ve been on the internet since we got here. Bob has been getting our signal booster hooked up, and that was great, but we had a storm on Saturday night and it knocked out the main signal to the camp. They said it was snow on the receiving dish, so we had to wait for the snow to melt! Saturday it rained most of the day, and then in the evening it turned to ice. Now I know the term sleet, but this was more like ice…it was icing. It dropped little slivers of ice. And that’s not even counting the ice that was dropping off the needles on the pine trees. Sunday morning it was snowing over the ice, but when we got about ... read more

(Oak Glen Christian Conference Center) Yesterday was a different kind of day… we woke up at Victory Ranch, and by lunch we were parked in our new neighborhood~~Oak Glen! We didn’t travel far enough to even have to change the radio station on the clock radio! We moved a few miles northeast, but mostly we just climbed…we’re at 5200 feet, and it’s an entirely different world. I’ve shown you pictures of the mountains around Hemet, and what they looked like with the clouds hanging low? Well now we’re in those clouds! Dave and Wanda came up the day before, and there was so much snow that the staff plowed out the parking spaces, as well as the roads, but by the time we got here it was mostly melted. There’s snow where the plow bladed it ... read more
