Hello from Sunny Southern California!! Well the trip from LA to San Diego was kinda crazy. Los Angeles is freakin huge! It took us most of the day to get from the Aglago (silverlake) house, to Long Beach. Not the prettiest of riding, stip malls and urban spawl... but once we got to Orange County, it got a little nicer. We also did not make it to Camp Pendelton Marine Corps base in time to ride through. You can only ride bikes on the base from 9:30am to 3:30 pm and nowhere to camp nearby. Lucky for us Garby and Maureen were waiting for us at Brian, Roth and Ackers house in Oceanside, about 10 miles south of Pendelton. So Garby drove up and got us. And we spent the evening catching up with these kids ... read more

Hey all! We just arrived in san Diego after spending 1 day in LA. We didn't get a chance to see much there, but will return at the end of our stay here, so will try and catch up on all the things to see and do. We stayed on Hollywood Boulevard though, so saw some famous stars on the street. Ashlie has got a friend who lives in LA, but currently in the UK so she kindly offered us to stay in her house! It was soooo nice to sleep in a normal house, cook our own food etc. Shame it's not too hot at the moment as it has a pool there too. We will go back and stay in a week or so. Now, San Diego. Just arrived so haven't had a chance ... read more

After waking up from another great nights rest at the Del, we had to decide what are plans are for the day. Looking out the window didn't seem to be freezing weather, but we didn't want to take any chances at Seaworld, so we decided to head to the Naval Ships here in San Diego, then on to Rosarito Beach Mexcio to spend a couple days with Ty's brother Thane, his wife Leslie, girls, Laney and Carley, before they head back to Colorado. First though, Jessica and Tanner laced up their roller blades and Ty hopped on our new bike to get some excersize blading and riding into town to check things out, while me, Lilly, and Emma pack up to leave. Aftering packing, me, Lilly, and Emma got in the minivan and headed to town ... read more

Seufer6: Destination--The San Diego Zoo After waking up from a relaxing night of rest at the Hotel Del Coronado, we opened the curtains to windy, overcast and cold weather. Before bed last night, we decided to go the Sea World, but after looking out our window, we thought at day at the San Diego Zoo would be a better choice. Anna, Jessica, and Tanner hit the beach first thing for a quick 1 1/2 mile brisk walk. Actually, Jessica jogged, while Tanner and Anna walked. We are still missing 2 bags from our flight, and Anna's tennis shoes are in one of them, so she flip flopped walked with Tanner. It was a great walk, with many fellow exercisers. We hooked up with Ty, Emma and Lilly at breakfast at the Del. Yummy! A buffet style ... read more

Seufer6 Roadtrip: Destination-Hotel Del Coronado DUE TO MEXICAN INTERNET SERVICE THIS BLOG WAS LOST AT THE BORDER CROSSING FOR SOME 7 DAYS SORRY FOR ANY CONFUSION MUCHO GRACIAS After a fantastic flight from Denver, we landed at the San Diego airport at 9:30am. Jessica and Tanner did homework the whole flight!!! 72 degrees and perfect! Locating all 10 pieces of our luggage didn't seem to be a perfect feat. With 8 pieces of luggage, 4 kids and 4 heavy carry on bags, we hopped on a bus and headed to National Car Rental to pick out a minivan. A dark blue van with all the bells and whistles didn't want to accommodate all luggage and passengers, so we settled on the largest white dodge minivan with extra cargo space instead. Off in our minivan we went ... read more

After a long journey the train arrived in Los Angeles Union station directly through the arse-end of the city, literally miles of urban industrialisation and scrap yards, not the best intro to LA but we weren't staying today. The station was an art deco masterpiece, larger than any other train station we had seen in the States, and fairly busy for a change. We waited around and took the next train to San Diego which slowly punted it's way down the more scenic coastline overlooking the pacific ocean. The view coming into San Diego was much nicer and when we arrived at the rather exotic looking station with the downtown skyscrapers behind it, we thought this was a much nicer place to stay. We had booked into Ocean Beach Backpackers and were expecting a free lift ... read more

I spent several hours visiting Celebrity's cruise ship The Infinity yesterday. She was docked in the Port of San Diego. I found the day to be a success, due to picturesque setting of the San Diego Harbor, and the many features and amenitites that make up this upscale cruise ship. The "Infinity" is the second of Celebrity's ships I have done shipboard inspections on. I visited the Mercury while at a trade show last June in Seattle. The Mercury was built in 1997; the Infinity in 2001. She contains 1,059 total accommodations, which is a combination of 50 suites, 853 outside cabins (with balcony and without) and 206 inside staterooms. The Infinity offers a mixture of traditional assigned dining, alternative restaurants and one restaurant upgade for an additional price of $30 per person per meal. Reservations ... read more

So, the bus was fun. All 8 hours of it. Arrived in San Diego about 8.30 and went straight to our hostel at Ocean Beach - much livelier (and in a slightly less dodgy 'hood') than the one in Las Vegas - and only about 200 metres from the Pacific Ocean. Hence, Ocean Beach. Met our ker-azy roommate Candice as soon as we walked in the room, she was busy rolling spliffs for her big night out. We didn't see much more of her, although she does a pretty mean english accent which she'd learnt from Monty Python films. Excellent! First night we checked out the local burger joint, Hodads across the road - the hostel was on the main street so bars and restaurants were on our doorstep, none of this catching a bus into ... read more

3 hrs drive saw us to San Diego - its really relaxed, lots of surf dudes and beach bunnies. We checked in to the Ocean Beach Hostel - spent the afternoon on the beach sleeping. Woke for the free BBQ at the hostel at six. Chatted to loads of people and made our way to a bar. Steve is twenty one in September - unfortunately that isn't good enough for state law and so we looked to see what else we could do. The hostel has received so many complaints that they don't allow drinking anywhere after nine. The bars are all ID crazy - one of the girls at the hostel said that down on the beach there are often fires which people gather around and party - so we went down to look for ... read more
