We left the arctic temperatures of England early wednesday morning and about 12 hours later pulled up at our hostel in hollywood! ooh yeah! as you can tell from the pics the first 2 days were spent exploring the city, Sunset Bl, Hollywood walk of fame, all that jazz. second day climbed up some canyon park in the middle of the city, amazing views, rained a bit, won't talk about that! then on saturday headed down to venice beach for a change of scene! amazingly bizzarre people everywhere...a choice selection shown to you in the pics. We'd like to draw your attention particularly to the orange man who spends his ... read more

Hey People!! Well we made it!!! We're in LA!! Its lovely here, we're staying on Venice Beach where they shot Baywatch so we've done plenty of Hoff-esque runs and singing "some people stand in the darkness...". Our hostel room has free internet in it-so not exactly slumming it yet!! Yesterday was my Birthday and I had the best day ever!!!! We went to Universal Studios and spent a small fortune on a queue jumping ticket...told you-we'll back in a fortnight at this rate!!! No it was well worth it! We walked onto every ride and attraction even though it was heaving. Best bits were the Mummy ride&the Jurassic park water ride and obviously the studio tour. Its nice to see my new place of work just prior to Ron Howard begging me to work there with ... read more

So here i'am, sat in a hostel right on Venice Beach. Finally the trip has began. The flight was murder, out of the five of us i was the one who got the seat 99z on my own and ended up starring at the wing of the plane for 11 hours which was pretty nasty. But we finally landed, got a shuttle bus to our hostel right on the beach and settled in our 6 person dorm. The rooms are quite nice or better than expected. We have met quite a few people out here, including the 6th dorm member mark a.k.a knashers. We've been hanging around with different groups of people. On the first night me, Brad and Dan went to the hostel bar and had a few beers with the other guests, they are ... read more

Our final stop in the US, mostly for the purpose of catching the plane to Sydney. We stayed in a Hostel called the 'Cotel' on Venice Beach. The location was good but the Hostel was bad with it's dodgy plumbing banging all night and keeping us awake. To recover from the nights we took it pretty easy in LA lying on the beach, sitting in cafes in Santa Monica and occasionally making the effort to actually do something like go roller blading along the sea front with the beautiful people. Sara was very pleased with herself being the better skater. We met up with Adam ( ex colleague ) a couple of times who was out there working on a Sony Pictures motion capture shoot. We took a quick tour of the studio and saw my ... read more

Woke up at 4:15 AM and then... Well we drove all day and night to L.A. (didn't leave my house until about 6:00AM) and it was pretty intense, because of all the partying and stuff to take care of last week we all realized a few hours into the drive that we were extremely behind in our sleep. I took the first shift, drove to Mt. St. Helen's exit in southern Washington, and then Jord took over and drove to Eugene Oregon. We bought Ryan a new digital camera, which worked out great since in retrospect there is no tax in Oregon. Ry drove from there to the Cali border where we almost ran out of gas, thankfully some tiny gas station in an unknown town saved our ass. I took over the drive from there ... read more

Wow.!!! Got to USA only 2 days ago but WOW!! It's been action packed already. Can't wait for camp to start. I flew in to LAX on Sunday at exactly the same time I left New Zealand... hmmm... odd! Was lucky enough to get met at the airport and escorted to the hotel - Crowne Plaza - nice. We had free time until orientation that night so after settling in a few of us went for a walk hoping to stumble across some local culture or shops. Whichever was to come first we didn't mind either way. Unfortunately we found no such thing but we did find a Burger King. The only trouble was the lady who worked there coiuldn't understand a thing we said! You would think we weren't even speaking english!!!! Not that we ... read more

OK, hi to all of you's who made it to my first weblog!! i hope i do this properly and it dont end up looking like crap, So i started off from Auckland on june 7th 2005, heading for LAX where (i was asked for money almost as soon as i got off the plane) and had an 8 hour stop over and enough time to get out of the airport and and explore a lil bit. I decided to take a taxi to Venice beach seeing as it was sunny as and not a cloud in the sky. I walked the venice beach boardwalk and ran into some crazy ass dude who i had to put up with telling me that "this is where i live!!, on the street player!!!" whilst he sipped his forty ... read more
