For your xmas and our xmas eve (24th Dec) we went to Disneyland - California Adventure Park. This is just across the road from Disneyland and is what we basically think a continuation of Disneyland (which didn’t fit on the original land) across the road which they can also charge for. So at this Disneyland we went on all the rides. Our favorites were the rocket or something which was like the giant drop but opposite- you shoot up into the air. We did the standard roller coaster etc. The best was the Haunted Hollywood Hotel where you went into this haunted mansion and got in the lift which was pitch black. It took you to the top level and then just let it drop back down- literally felt like free falling. If we were not ... read more

Got up at 9 am today. We had a big catch up sleep and now feel heaps better. Wow! Another long long day. Disneyland just never ends. Well basically there are two parks. Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure. Today we went to Disneyland. We walked in at 10am and it was packed. Soo many people and kids and heaps of strollers. There was so much to do we didn’t know where to start. We found that the most popular rides had fast track cards where you are given a card with a specific hour to come back and you will go to the front of the line. However only one fast track card would be given out each hour, so we couldn’t just collector them all and go back. Otherwise the wait was as long as ... read more

Day started early again. Only had about 4 ½ hours sleep last night. Left our Hollywood hotel and caught the 7.20 train to Downtown LA and then connected with a bus to go to Anaheim. Arrived at Anaheim at 10am and checked into our Hotel. We traveled this whole trip on a $3 all day metro ticket. A cab was going to cost $100! (Disneyland is just across the road from our hotel). So we decided to get Knott’s Berry Farm done. We were extremely tired today and were not really in the mood but we had to tick it off our list. Knott’s Berry is a theme park with very extreme rides. If you think the best rides at each of the QLD theme parks (ie. giant drop, lethal weapon, superman, tower of terror etc) ... read more

Disney and Beyond Beefie and I have had a whirlwind week in LA, first we visited Disneyland where Beefie nearly got into a fight with Mickey for making moves on Minnie. Have you ever noticed that Mickey and Minnie have the same last name but don't live together. Are they married or related? And if they are related why are they in a relationship?? We hired a car and went to Newport beach to try and find us a rich desperate Newport housewife. The beach was nice but we could not find any sugar mummas to look after us. After Newport we ventured up to Venice beach, we showed the Yanks a couple of pointers on beach etiquette, like budgie smugglers that are three sizes to small are not cool. From Venice we went to Hollywood ... read more

Disneyland was sort of bonus stop for us as we hadn't originally planned to visit. However, over the course of our two week stay in Hermosa a lot of people had recommended that we go see it, as afterall, it was the original created by Walt Disney himself. Opened back in 1955 the park now sits beside the California Adventure Park (Has bigger and more scary rides), but with limited time available we opted for the nostalga of Mickey, Donald, Goofie and all. As we walked through the gates a big beam came across Jo's face, the train was just pulling into Disneyland Railroad station, excited children (adults as well) giggled with joy, music filled the air and as we turned the corner we got our first glimpse of the magic kingdom. The excitement that you ... read more

Today is my last offical day at Boeing for the next 6 weeks, as some of you know I was supposed to leave for 4 months, that didn't happen -- so now here I am with a 6 week whirl-wind tour of Nepal -- I plan on spending a week in Pokhara in the shadow of Anapurna, enjoying Tihar in Kathmandu, and then leaving for Everest on Oct 30th. All going well I'll be at the base camp on Nov 5th. I'll keep all of you as posted as I can from the road. Bryan... read more

I cannot imagine how much fun I would have had here if I was, um.... ten years old! The magical wonderland that it is. Pretty, enlightening, impossible-not-to-be-happy advertureland. The type of endless happy, warm fuzzzy environment that you tend to want to pull apart and stomp on just a little to make sure its real. I seriously think the American government should consider sending suspected terrorists here instead of Guantanamo Bay. It would be hugs and kisses all round and for more progress they could just put them on the 'Its a small world' ride for a couple of days. That'll suck the information outta them. Oh yeahhhh. Hiya Mickey! meow. Hiya Daisy! quack. Hi Goofy! Dubya says hi. Lets just let the pictures do the talking, I've said enough. ... read more

i love cats, and most of all, i love free cats: the kind of cats that can run around, do whatever they please, kiss the owners, play, eat plants, etc. -- you get the drift. of course their freedom is first and foremost awarded by their human friends, and since this is the general case, all cats that are free are pretty much owned by people that feel free themselves. when one is in complete connection with the higher things in life, when one understands rigid rules are but a human concoction and most of the time are painful to follow and downright useless (really!), their cats become a mirror for their souls. i have been in many houses, have many friends with cats, and, without meaning to disrespect anyone's set of rules and overall general ... read more

you know, i never imagined a house far away from the hustle-and-bustle of a big town could offer me such optimum relief. i have imagined myself, always, living the vertigo life only new york could provide. all the more, i thought i had declared myself the most dreadful enemy against the quiet (country or small-town) life. only, when you start realizing, once again, that life is full of surprises, and you open yourself up to the uknown possibilities, you find yourself enjoying the most simple pleasures in life, ironically, in a house, on a hill, away from everything, silence reigning. grace offered me a few days of calm in her house in orange county. yes, i have finally managed to get down here, to the OC. the house is welcoming, high-ceilinged, well lit, very roomy, overall ... read more
