Anaheim It was a day of separate sightseeing with Annie heading off to Universal Studios and Susie to the Getty Museum. I dropped Annie off at Universal Studios in the morning and continued towards LA to the Getty Centre. The Getty Centre A tram carries visitors from the base of a hilltop just outside LA to a sprawling white limestone conglomeration of contemporary buildings. The Getty Centre - a modern day Parthenon - overlooking the vast expanse of LA from the south to north & out to the pacific ocean - encompasses an art gallery, gorgeous landscaped gardens, a research institute and an auditorium for music & performance. I spent 3 hours touring the exhibitions; drawings, sculpture, paintings - all the masters on display with a special Rubens exhibition when he was just starting out, doing ... read more

Am attending a conference this week in Anaheim. Have had long days of meetings. We did have a free evening which allowed us to see some of the sites. Was able to go to an Anaheim Angels game. Very nice ball park. Extremely clean which is a nice change! Had a really good time with some work colleagues but the Angels lost to Colorado 5-2. Had some great seats. Baseball games are always so much fun. Easy to visit yet enjoy the game as well. Our North Dakota boy Darin Erstad plays for the Angels but he was out on injured reserve, though, when I was there. A friend and I were also able to buzz over quick and take a picture of the Hollywood sign, grab dinner at Hard Rock and a quick drive down ... read more

When we woke up we had breakfast at the hotel. Mom, Dad & Chris picked us from the Double Tree Hotel in Anaheim around 11 am. My parents took us to the banks so we can deposit the money. We went to deposit money first at Bank of America then at Wells Fargo. We then went to Burger King for a quick lunch. Then we went to the LAX airport and checked in. Nagy upgraded our flight for an extra $600 so we can have better seats going to London. Before our flight me and Nagy ate ice cream. Then we went on the plane. We watched movies and slept most of the way. Nagy ate lasagna for dinner and I ate chicken and rice. Then we landed in London the next day.... read more

We got up and had the lovely breakfast, which was much better than UK Holiday Inn Express Breakfast. They had loads of cereals, fruit, eggs, danish pastry things and bagles. Drove to Disneyland, where we parked our (relativly) small car in the "Mickey and Friends Parking Structure". We went on lots of rides and had lunch in a fake mexican place. (One portion served two of us little English people). We found another microbrewery in Disney and I had the best pint of IPA on the whole trip there! I believe it was called the Pacific Coast Brewing Co. If you ever go there, don't go on the giant sun wheel ride thing, it's crap. Really. And it wastes 1.5 hours even though the queue looks short. We tried on lots of hats and bought Mickey ... read more

Well Jordan and I had a busy busy day at disneyland. I think one day was enough for us. It was a little rushed but now that we know how things work, we'd be way more prepared next time! Saw most of the attractions that we wanted, except the California Screamin Rollercoaster which broke down with people on it, they were stuck at the very top for about an hour, that turned us off that ride. Was a good day all in all, meeting mickey was one of the highlights for me!!... read more

Surprised Jordan with tickets to Game 5 of the Ducks/Oilers series. What a game to be at!!! Jordan asked me to control myself, and I made a whole 5 min before seeing a big group of oilers fans and running up and highfiving them all. We were way up in the nose bleeds but could still see everything, had a big group of oilers fans around us, expect for the greese bag sitting next to me. He was alone at the hockey game, about 300lbs, and greesy!!. He kept yelling F*#k you edmonton, go home, ect... I managed to keep my mouth shut until the buzzer went off at the end of the 3rd then I turned to him and screamed HAHA SUCKER WERE GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP!!! WHOOOO GO OILERS YAY. hehe but don't ... read more

Kia Ora!! Sorry we are running way behind with this travel blog, between the difficulty getting internet access and the fact we are so busy sightseeing it just isn’t happening! Anyway as promised here is the Disneyland / Disney California Adventures update. We bought a pass which allows 3 days in Disneyland and Disney California Adventures and we are so glad we did - there was HEAPS to see and do. The 2 parks were side by side and so we could walk between them as we pleased. Disneyland: The atmosphere in Disneyland is awesome. We got pics with Mickey & Minnie in Toontown. In Toontown you can also walk through their houses which was cool. When it came to rides I wasn’t very brave, the most daring one that I did was the Indiana Jones. ... read more

Hi again. This time from the warm and sunny home of Mickey mouse! Well what an eye opener this is. There are just so many people! From the time I got off my (very long) flight I have been totally overwhelmed. I am walking around in a bit of daze really. But I'm exploring. I actually managed to find a supermarket yesterday! And today I've been on the coolest rides at Disneyland. I loved it and tomorrow I'm going to California Adventure for even scarier rides. I've had Taco Bell (one of the things on my Must Do list) twice! And it's sooo yummy. The hotel is pretty nice and I think at least half the guests are Ozzies or Kiwis which is cool. Will post some photos in the next few days to show you ... read more

Hi all After much hunting we finally have a home! We were originally looking at RVs (motorhomes) but there were very few available, we ended up going with the travel trailer option (kind of like a caravan). We also had to get a vehicle to tow it with and so bought a very nice 2000 gold Ford Expedition, a great buy. Nick got us a great price on the travel trailer (brand new) (thanks again Bob from Giant RV), He was very impressed with Nick's negotiation skills and commented on this a number of times! On the Sunday we went to Crystal Cathedral - just amazing. It is a huge glass cathedral with amazing gardens, sculptures, priceless artwork, fountains, a huge tower etc. They can even open up part of the wall of the cathedral if ... read more

With our usual impeccable timing, we arrived back in LA from Santa Barbara at the same time Matt got back from his morning appointments, so we grabbed a late lunch at In n Out Burger across the street, and headed off to Anaheim! The freeway traffic wasn't too horrific and we arrived at the Timon parking lot at 4pm, caught the connecting Lion King Tram to the entrance, and we were at Disneyland! Juliet immediately decided she was seven years old and set off at a bounce, while Matt guided us directly to Frontierland and the first of our chosen rides. Jenny regretted her late night and lack of sleep and opted for easing into the afternoon gently, so we boarded the Jungle Cruise boat with our Skipper Katie providing witty commentary on a wide range ... read more
