31/03/07 - 06/04/07 Kissing Dolphins and Tequila for Breakfast! Our accommodation in Tulum was Cabinas just seconds from the beach. We lazed around the first day on the beach watching kite boarders and soaking up the rays. When we weren’t lazing on the beach, we were lazing on the hammocks that were strung out in front of our small stone huts. If swinging on the hammocks wasn’t enough, we also had the unusual feature of a swinging bed that hung down from four strong ropes tied to ceiling beams. If you didn’t keep very still then it was easy to become quite seasick or that one-too-may-drinks-feeling of the whole room spinning. The hammocks were just big enough for two with hilarious results. OM 6u al wakker *zucht*, maar op 't gemakske opgestaan - mijn sjatteke lag nog te slapen als een roosje - mijn fruit beginnen op te smikkelen, stillekes alle spullekes bijeen beginnen zoeken... tegen 7u mijn poepie dan ook maar wakker gekust. Tegen 7.45u waren we vertrekkensklaar, nog effe de sleutel gaan afgeven aan 'den Enzo', goeiendag gezegd en 'off we go'. *snik snik* Nog effe getwijfeld of er nog wel tijd zou zijn om te gaan ontbijten (achteraf bekeken hadden we hier nog ruim de tijd voor), de hoofdstraat afgelopen op zoek naar een gezellige (goedkope?!) bar aangezien 't aan de Crèpes-bar vol zat... maar niet echt iets gevonden. Uitgeslapen tot 7.30u... Nanna aan den lijven ondervonden dat ze overnacht 't warm-water-kraantje nog altijd niet hadden opengedraaid, baaaahhhh...een hele hoop beestjes kruipen overal door de kamer, eeeeekkkk...een hagedis in KingZ zijne rugzak!! Beslissing is vlug genomen om voor een ander (goedkoper) hotel te gaan zoeken, want dit is zijn 60$ echt niet waard! Eerst nog op z'n Amerikaans 'all you can eat' ontbijtbuffet gaan doen, mmm... en toen doelloos gaan taffelen in en om 't centrum. Uiteindelijk bij Hotel Playa del Sur beland: WAUW WAUW WAUW! Bleken achteraf Italiaanse, sympathieke uitbaters te zijn... (geen leperds dus!) Tegen de middag naar ons nieuw optrekje vertrokken, gepakt en gezakt. Ok , so im done with Cancun , the city itself after being there and seeing other places is not such a good place to stay in . But after coming to Playa del carmen the place is really beautiful , even though the city is not so big (the touristic part consists of only one long street) its very nice and vivid street . The beachs of Playa are also very beautiful as all the beaches of the carabbian sea are . In Playa i went for two dives , one a drift dive where i could see alot of very big sea tourtles and a flack (err group ?) of about 30 hugh fish swimming by , i could see thier big teeth and it was a bit scary thing to see . the ... read more

Dear lord it was 21hrs of travel time to get from La Paz to Mexico City and I really wasn’t going that far, delay after delay, but that is a distant memory after 2 weeks in traveling around Mexico. Sadly I didn’t get to see much of Mexico City; however the reports from the other people on the trip confirm I didn’t miss much. The only thing I am slightly sad about is not seeing Freda Kahlo´s house, but I will just have to watch the DVD again. I really got straight into it, after arriving in at 11pm I was up early the next morning to depart for the short journey to Puebla passing the 2nd and 3rd tallest peaks in Mexico on the way - Popocatpetl and Iztaccihualt - both snow capped.
