Surfed this AM at Playa Bruja and finally got "bitten" by the SURF BUG... Surfing is absolutely AMAZING. Drove all morning and all afternoon to Sayulita norht of Puerta Vallarta. Somehow I screwed up the functions on this keyboard such that I cannot access the good punctuation keys so that is why my punctuation is lacking. We arrived here just before sunset and found a lovely camping place. We went straight to the beach to wathc the sun set and watch the surfers tear it up... Having arrrived to such a beautiful place and such a beautiful scene, I am SURE we will stay longer than anticipated here but such is the life, eh More soon, Love Meghan ... read more

Hello all !!I will do this entry and then I will go and start the packing process for the 2nd last time. Tomorrow I am off to Florida for a few days before heading home...it has been a great adventure on this continent and I would recommend it to any and all of you. I have been in this area for a week enjoying the hospitality of friends from Calgary and my brother and sister in law. The walks on the beach , the sea food and the companionship have been a treat. Guaybitos and LosAyala each have great beaches and I have had the sound of waves to put me to sleep. I was fortunate enough to go on a 4 hour water safari through a mangrove area north of here on Tuesday and saw ... read more

Matt and I drove through Arizona to the Nayarit beach area of Mexico where Lana and Erika joined us. Lana flew to Puerto Vallarta and Erika came from Guadalajara where she is studying. Other than a few days spent with Erika in Guadalajara, Lana and I are relaxing at our favourite spot, Villas Tlaquepaque, Lo de Marcos, a quiet little beach town about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta. Everything is pretty simple but that's why we're here! Erika and Matt are planning a couple of weeks of backpacking while we stay here.... read more

Things are winding down in Mexico. The weather has been hot and sunny everyday for the last 2 weeks. Spectacular!! What a place. We have been wining and dining around Mexico for 3 weeks now and know that when we get to NZ it ends. It is so cheap to eat here, we have become very spoiled. Chicken quesadillos with salsa and guacamole is about $3.50. 10 minute taxi ride is $2.50. Our accomodation here has been great. If you stay 1 month it works out to be $41.25 per night. Wireless internet is good but Mexican style, off and on. Ed and Anita and Mike and Marg just got into the taxi for their trip to the airport. M&M were here 3 weeks and E&A were here 2 weeks. Both said it was not long ... read more

The adventure has begun. We left home early, early on Jan 13th. Clayton is our faithful chauffer but of course he is probably counting days in anticipation of having the whole house to himself!! Glad to see the tail end of us. We did the 4 hour layover in Dallas which actually was OK. It is an amazing airport. It is American Airlines hub and is huge with AA. There are 5 huge terminals each with probably 50 gates. The Terminals are all connected by a very cool SkyLink monorail. You can travel to each of these terminals to check out shops, restaurants etc without ever leaving the secured area. Very cool. Our wonderful friends, James and Karen met us in PV at the airport even though it was 9:30PM and we are always cautioned about ... read more

Wow...I had forgotten how much I enjoy walking on a beach. The first morning I was here I set out with a pedometer on my waist band and was amazed to read I had walked 6000+ steps on my morning constitutional . The tide was out and the fishermen were in with their catch so there were many people around . It is the end of the school holiday although there are a lot of people around I understand that there will be fewer of them next week. Rincon is a Mexican resort with the majority of the tourist being Mexican . Mind you there are still quite a few gringos . The hotel-apartment I am staying at is manged by a couple from Edmonton and more Canadians have arrived each day I have been here. ... read more

We stayed at a B&B, Casa Obelisco. Big home and only 4 guest suites. Owners are very accomdating and helpful. We just wanted to chill out and relax so there isn't much to report. We were at the beach or the pool every day. Compared to Sayulita which is 3 miles south, there are NO VENDORS on the beach. If you want to go to town, it's about 3/4 mile away. We didn't rent a car, most guests do. You need sturdy shoes for the walk. Cobblestone streets and very uneven. I took a nasty fall at the end of the vacation. We had lunch at Casa Obelisco everyday. Evy works at the bar and makes great quesdillas and fajitas and of course margueritas. Best restaurant in town was Ola Rica. Many restaurants to choose from ... read more

Here it is December 21st, 2007. We had Evan's 27th Birthday Party at Burger Heaven last night. 33 people attend and all seemed to have a good time.
