Wow again . Tomorrow will be my last full day in M.C. and I think that is okay . For some reason I found the traffic really loud and busy today . I mentioned that to Luis at the desk and he said it WAS loud and heavy today . Holidays have started and the shopping is said to be cheaper in this area than in the suburbs...go figure . It means lots of people and lots of traffic . The beach will be nice.! I think I left off on my 2nd walking day in town . I alternated city / excursions and that was a good pattern . My second tour was to Cuernavaca to visit the city and to see the Franciscan church that was built there in the 1500´s . It was ... read more

I have been walking and walking and walking and enjoying the sights of Mexico City . The hostel is in a fantastic location .I found out today it is on the first REAL street of the continent . Which dates it back to the 1500´s . The building itself is NOT that old but at least 100years . Like many buildings here it is built around a central courtyard . .It is 5 stories high with all rooms looking onto the central area where there is a restaurant , reception area and a tour desk . All very convenient . There is a communal kitchen on the 5th floor with an outdoor eating area overlooking the Cathedral and the Zocolo...Very well located . The roof top bar for guests oñly and is also where breakfast is ... read more

First the luggage ... When I checked in at home I was told that my luggage would be claimed when I got to P.V. which was great . NOT having to deal with it in Vancouver was a bonus . However when I arrived at the airport the next day it turns out that info was inaccurate and at 3 am it was unsettling to discover that they had no idea where it had gotten to . Some one checked the baggage room and it wasnot there . The young woman I was dealing with was most kind and thought it had been shipped to Calgary . She took the name and address of the hostel here in Mexico City and asssured me I would get it within a day or 2 ... how kind,,, Needless ... read more

The buildings in Mexico City were gorgeous. They had a colonial look to them and I could understand why it was such an attraction for tourist in Mexico. Some of the buildings had paintings and murals on them, like the national palace. The murals were painted by a famous Mexican painter, who was also married to Frida Kahlo known for her self portraits. Or the paintings of a woman with a uni brow. Mexico City is a city full of heritage with places and attractions like museum, university, park, restaurants, and monuments.... read more

Mexico, een land van contrasten! 01/12/14 Vlucht Zaventem—London—Mexico " Hotel Principal " Ik ben goed aangekomen.

Hola amigas, after a 4 hour flight 6 hour layover 14 hour flight 2 hour layover 4 hour flight we finally arrived in Mexico.....in hindsight we shoukd have broken it up. We have discovered jetlag really does exist. First night we slept straigt for 13 hours and the next night we got about 1 hours sleep. Was a little disappointed that my spanish lessons have not been much help. Found very few english speaking people and I dontknow nearly as much as I thought. Has made for some interesting meal purchases. Daz is taco'd out after 3 days. Had a good walk around the city and got pretty burnt. Everyone is so polite and surprisingly very few smokers. Went to Teotihuacan today to see the sun and moon pyramides. Pretty impressive and racked up 10km walking ... read more
