Dinosaur Provicial Park North America » Canada » Alberta By JPSTEWARTMay 14th 2007John-Patrick StewartThis dinosaur park is a world heritage site and more dinosoars have been excavated here than anywhere else in the world - Over 200 species! Situated near Drumheller, the landscape is amazing and such contrast to the surronding flat praries. Millions of years this land has been preserved by glaciers and rich iron rock. The trails were awesome and the rock hoodoo formations left behind were extraordinary. You really could imagine dinosaurs roaming around.... read more

Day 1-4Brad and Treena The trip started almost as planned. We hadnt quite worked out all the kinks, and had a late start to day 1, after we hacksawed some pieces of Treenas front rack on her bike. She was also battling a bit of a sore foot, from a tumble on the hike. It tuned out to be no big deal though. We dipped our wheels in the water and rode about 70km, and found a nice spot, just off the highway, near a lake to camp. We had all our pegs, and sleeping bags, therefore camping on night 1 was a complete succes. After waking up to light snow, we got a better start to day 2, and had a nice, hilly, windy day. We met Rich along the way. He is rollerblading across ... read more

You know, it's funny how life works. Three short weeks ago, I was complaining about being home and missing the thrill of being somewhere different. I've been sorting all the shit I brought back from this trip with me and wondering when (not if) I would get the chance to do this again. Well, it turns out that I'm leaving for my next trip tomorrow! I'll be spending 2 -½ weeks in Europe, coming back on May 31st. Some of you may be asking, "Tom, how the hell did this happen?!" Well long story short, my parents are both dutch immigrants, and my Dad was looking to go to Holland for a little while to visit his parents. He happened to find an extremely cheap flight, and when he told me how much it cost, ... read more

Realising that America was burning a serious hole in the pocket, the minute I hit Canada I vowed to be more careful with my money....then realised that there were opportunities to Orca watch! The whole saving idea went out the window and I promptly booked myself on a trip! Picked the evening one so I could see the sunset and make the most of the dying winds! Which gave me the whole day to kill....opted for the walking tours - self guided of course and 'did' victoria entirely for free - well with the exception of seriously painful feet! waited for ages, told that trip wasn't going, trasnsferred to Prince of Whales, donned a beautiful red jumpsuit - set off Failed first attempt - sat in the harbour and the engine spluttered to a halt! ... read more

After almost a week in San Jose, CA, it was hard to leave. But knowing that our next stop was Toronto and Kimmy´s wedding it wasn´t that hard after all. We left San Jose at 7am and got to Toronto after midnight. What had happened...? Not much. We just had a really cheap flight that took us from San Francisco to Washinton D.C. and then to Buffalo. We got to Buffalo at 8pm and had still a bus to catch to Toronto. Little after midnight we made it to our hostel, the Downtowner Inns. A very clean and neat place. Our first day in Toronto we spent sightseeing. I think it´s a beautiful city and it´s so easy to get around. In the afternoon we were on duty. Kimmy, the bride, and her friends were ... read more

I decided yesterday that I needed to get out somewhere a little wilder than the boulevard to release all the pent up frustrations from my retail experience, so I rode out to Lynn canyon park for a jog. I went for a slightly challenging trail run along the Bayden Powell track, and took a lot of photo’s, more, I think as an excuse to stop and take my breath than anything else. The forest and the river were absolutely stunning though and totally revived my spirit. I couldn’t help looking in awe at the way the sun caught the moss around branches, roots and rocks and made everything glow. It was amazing. Pine forests are so much more beautiful in their native environments than the Australian state forest versions. Not long after I took the ... read more
