Just wanted to let you know what we are looking at doing in Sedona. For a good time, check out the info on the HeartWalk Center in Sedona. They have lots of interesting "beliefs". Gail and Sue are believers to some extent but had a good laugh. We are most interested in dealing with the issues in our tissues, no matter how we get there. Here is Gail's email to Leon and Phoenix... Hi Sedona at Heart Walk people, My name is Mary Gail Eikelenboom (age 55) and my friend Suzanne Wilkins (age 57) plan on vacationing in Sedona. We both have autoimmune problems fribromyagia and arthritis, so we are not looking for strenuous activities. I tried to email through your site but had tech problems...(the story of Gail's life). I am interested in having us ... read more

Sue was a Girl Guide, not so sure about Gail but did pick up some H95 masks today at Shoppers. Only $1.99 each and they are small folded things so will be great for packing. Should have bought a case...like Jacob, we always need to be looking for an opportunity to make a few $$. Anyways, we just want everyone to know that we will be following in the foot steps of Ms. Beatrice as follows: Miss Beatrice, he church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married. She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all. One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room. She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea. As he sat facing her old Hammond ... read more

Well, we are getting ready for the Blazing BLister's Vacation of 2009. Mary Gail and Sue are friends by chance and decided that we could be sisters by choice. And after one particularly funny trip, when we laughed and laughed, we decided that we could be the Belly Laughing Sisters...or BListers. Last year we had a wonderful trip to Mexico but no one is going to Mexico now with the H1N1 aka Swine Influenza. Even with heading to Arizona, both of us have sons named Chris and both of these guys, independently, wanted to make sure we knew there was flu afoot and maybe we wanted to rethink our trip?? No way!! Gail and Sue have decided that if either of us gets sick on vacation and dies, the other one will have the dead one ... read more

So the saga continues. Fortunately, things are getting better, there getting better all the time... We had one more show last night and loaded out afterwards. Load out went a little better than we expected, and it was warmer, only 30 below 0, instead of 40 below when we loaded in!! (thats with the wind chill) So we got done with load out around 2am and hopped on the bus for a nice 12 hour drive around Lake Surpieror. It was fun. We slept on the bus and watched movies. So now we're in Sault Ste Marie, ON, and now we're all just chillin in the hotel, there is a party in 201 that I am about to head down to! Should be fun. Well, Canada is pretty awesome. I really like it here. It's really ... read more

Hi Folks, I'm in Saul St. Marie Ontario. I actually had 2 days in a row with no rain, of course it's pouring as I type this!!! Wind has been kicking in but no serious climbing yet, the terrain is mostly flat to rolling hills. The ride along the north channel of Lake Huron has been beautiful and everyone keeps telling me the North Shore of Lake Superior is even better. I've got 3200 Km's in now, so I stopped at a bike shop here, Velorution, to get my pedals lubed and tighten the rear cog set, (I noticed some looseness). No charge for any of the work!!! They also offer free camping to tourists, (wish I had known that last night!!!). I've seen quite a few tourists, including 2 guys riding recumbents, heading east, but ... read more

Tuesday August 28th, travel day 2. Crossing Wisconsin on Route 8 more farms and trees mostly trees in fact it could be Kansas with trees. We had a great lunch in Rhinelander WI the biggest town we saw in Wisconsin. The Rhinelander Cafe is the local place to eat and has fantastic cream pies. We had parked in the center of town and on leaving the restaurant we couldn't find the car!! Stolen in middle America? Stranded here with nothing!!! Sylvan had convinced me it must have been stolen and just before my rising panic caused me to lose my lunch there it was we had walked right passed it. Onward we drove or Sylvan drove and I dosed. He does hate to give up the wheel. Our route took us through the upper peninsula ... read more

Back to Back Roads Sunday, 19 August 2007 Today was yet another attempt to ride a road branching off of the Trans Canada Highway. This time I took Silver & rode without problem to Echo Bay, which I’d already passed through once, on my trip yesterday. But this time I went to the left off the highway, through the town, to join up with highway 638. Unfortunately for me there is some major road construction taking place, as the government is finally creating a 4-lane highway on this stretch of the Trans Canada. So I somehow missed my turn onto 638 & wound up on some back roads, which were paved initially but soon degraded into gravel roads. Fortunately they were not as difficult to navigate as the soft ones I’d ridden on in Saskatchewan & ... read more

To St Joseph's Island Saturday, 18 August 2007 Today was a much much better day than yesterday, both for weather & for what I was able to do. I took Blue & rode from the motel to St Joseph’s Island, some 30-40 kilometres east of Sault Ste Marie. The riding on the whole went very well, even though there was a bit of wind and a couple of good-sized hills (one was over 3 kilometres long, but the slope was gradual, so it was relatively easy). There was an interesting bridge to cross to get to the island, and soon after I did Margaret, my friend who met up with us at Schreiber, as she’s taking her own tour by motorcycle, rode past me & we stopped & chatted a bit. It was quite a pleasant ... read more

Discouragement in the Soo Friday, 17 August 2007 Today was a difficult day for me. There was a road which appeared to be quite inviting on the map, something like the ones I’d tried in Wawa & Fort Frances. However, between the weather conditions, VERY windy, rainy & cold, and the type of road, not so many hills but looong ones, fairly steep too, I had to call it quits after only 10 kilometres and call for a “pick-up”. It’s as if Someone was telling me not to go, because the weather cleared up temporarily while I made the decision not to proceed & called Bob - had to use the satellite phone, as the cell phone had no service there. The weather then got crappy again when I decided to continue until the “white knight ... read more

“Lost’ in Sault Ste Marie Thursday, 16 August 2007 Today we drove to the Soo. It was way too windy for little old me to try to bike it, so to keep up my pace I had to walk. After we checked in & I dropped off the laptop - the shop actually shares parking space with the motel - we drove to Kinsmen’s Park, where we’d had a nice off-leash walk with Panna on our trip out (two whole months ago!). The three of us (Bob, Panna, & myself) had a nice walk through parts of the park, although for some reason the water didn’t tempt Panna as much for swimming as it had in June (of course the temperature was a lot more reasonable than it had been then). It was so nice to ... read more
