Biggest and best cabin on the train (still no room for the cat though) and next to the bar where the lovely Kelly looks after us!! Food too good, wine still not!!! Trees, trees, trees and the odd lake and cabin. Stopped at a one moose town called Hornepayne and we didn't even see the moose but they had live bait in the shop. Now stopover in Winnipeg for 3 hours so have stretched legs, seen Red River and that's about Winnipeg done!... read more

Monday was an experience at the very least. We rolled into Canada in the afternoon, and the first customs lady greeted us with a “Bonjour.” It was the last friendly thing we heard from her. She asked us a million questions about why we were headed to Winnipeg all the way from Georgia, and why we had so much stuff if we were only staying 2 nights. We explained about traveling cross country and Rob’s visa needing to be reactivated, and at that she had us pull up our car and go inside to deal with customs lady #2. Inside, we waited a while and then we were questioned first as a group and then individually. Dorothy the customs agent wanted to know how the three of us knew each other and for how long. Then, ... read more

Some pictures from Dave's York Factory working visit. This place is a truly awesome place! Set in the middle of nowhere with a haunting ambience, it stands as a lasting monument to the brave souls of the Hudson's Bay Company... I was lucky enough to spend two weeks here during July and had a lot of time to explore the area...... read more

Well so far I am falling behind in this blogging diatrate but will attempt to do better. First of all Manitoba roads , although slightly better than Sask. are still (excuse the pun) nothing to write home about. PLP, however, was a very pleasant and interesting place. Weather was beautiful, in fact to warm for me, we even turned the air conditioner on. PLP is known for its strawberries and potatoes. Also it exuberance for its heritage. Did you know Manitoba started out to be the Republic of Manitobah (yes that is the way it was spelled) but alas much like our politicians today they got greedy and were overturned and vola now we have the province of Manitoba, ok enough of the history lesson. We spent a day relaxing and doing not much of anything, ... read more

Well Cypress Hills was OK not somewhere we would travel to again. However, we were only in the campground about 10 min. and a mum moose strolled through our campsite, some kids were chasing her and her baby (idiots), and about an hour later 2 deer walked through, and on the other hand if your a saskatchwenite and you never get to see trees it would be a great place to take your kids for a weekend. The next day we saw a mother duck and her troop of babies on the lake. So back to our travels, we decided to take the "red coat trail"- heritage and all that- the word trail says it all, never complain about BC or Alberta roads because we were down to 50 and never over 80k an hour. Lots ... read more

Signé Liam Antoine... read more

Another great day of riding. Wx was about perfect, and we made good distance. Crossed the Canadian border with no difficulties. Again, not a great day for videos. For anyone that has been to ND, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Hopefully for all, us included, the scenery will pick up later tomorrow, or the next day. We stopped by Andy's HD in Grand Forks. I bought 4 bikes from there in the old days. Started talking with Denny (Andy's son), and we had a rememberance. Our memories remember the strangest things. He still has a picture of the 81 superglide I bought from him on his dresser. I wrecked the 11 June 83, but we both remembered stguff. Biggest issue now is picking a hotel to stop at. Neither of us are to picky, ... read more

North America » Canada » Manitoba » Churchill January 23rd 2012
