Well since i'm due home very soon now i've had to get my ass in gear and do some serious sightseeing that i've put off. So a couple days ago I caught the sea bus to North Vancouver and took in the sights. First stop was the Capilano Suspension Bridge which is the oldest tourist sight in Vancouver. It's kind of a rip off at $26 for entry but I was told it was a must see while in Van. So I walked across the longest suspension bridge and took heaps of pictures. There were some trails on the other side and a place to picnic so after doing every possible trail I could do I sat in the sun and made a sandwhich before crossing back to the other side. It was an absolutely ... read more

Well I had a nightmare of a 5 1/2 hr flight from Montreal back to Vancouver. I was sitting next to the most rude and arrogant americans I have ever met. This guy was taking all the room and it was imposiible to get some rest what ever I tried. Well I won in the end. In the free section in the hostel fridge was 8 eggs, so I scrambled them up and made sandwiches for the plane as Air Canada are tight bastards and don't feed you. I felt a good one brewing so I turned away from him pretending to be sleeping and pointed my ass in the air. I got the bastards good and proper! They both started f in and blindin and I without a care in world for anyone on ... read more

Just a quick entry to get launched. Visitors to Vancouver should not miss Lynn Creek Park with its wonderful but easy trails, suspension bridge, waterfalls and gorgeous forest. There is also an interesting welcome centre, gift shop and coffee shop. All access is free.... read more

So since last time we have managed to find a place to live. It is a one bedroom apartment right in the heart of downtown so walking distance to pretty much everything. It is for sale so we managed to get it at a discounted rate of rent (they do all rent privately here not through real estate agents which is a bit weird) and on a month-to-month basis which works out well for us. We are too lazy to take our own photos so we left that to the pros. If you follow this link and then look at additional photos you should get an idea. http://www.lestwarog.com/789drake/mls_details-V643920.html Karl has been working for a residential concrete company based out of Vancouver. He had the longest concrete day in history last week it started at 6am and ... read more

Dahna: mmm… it has been a while since my last blog entry. It’s a little harder to write regularly now because we are in that limbo land somewhere between travel and normal day-to-day existence. Now that I have found myself a job that involves sitting infront of the computer for 40 plus hours a week, the last thing I feel like doing is sitting infront of one in my spare hours. But, since it is a rainy Sunday, I thought I’d take the time to put in a quick entry. I’m becoming a bit addicted to this blog thing. I confess. I might have to start another few. The weather has been continuing its general rainy, wet, cold thing so I don’t have much interesting stuff to share and feel like I should spare you the ... read more

Well after saying goodbye to the boys and girls at the ferry port, I went to Jordy's. Once again I landed on my feet and I had the downstairs apartment. I wasn't there for even 15 minutes before his mother served me up a roast. Result!! Jordy had to work the next day so I took a bus to Cyprus Mountain - Vancouvers biggest local mountain. It was raining and I was hoping it would be snowing on the mountain. It was and we had 2 foot of powder. I couldn't see shit but that didn't stop me blasting it through the trees where the visibility improved. Met a local seasonair that showed me the backcountry. It got a bit too hairy so I went to the bar to celebrate a great morning and then headed ... read more

Snowboarding was by far the best thing that we’ve done since we arrived, well second best compared to shooting the guns. Surprisingly, I didn’t take that long before I picked it up and could go down the hills at a steady pace, thanks to jo and her lessons. I even had a go at doing a jump (still sore) I’ve decided to buy a snowboard as soon as I can so I can show my brother up when I get home hehe. A trip to New Zealand is definitely on the cards when we get home. ... read more
