A long bus trip and ferry ride to Victoria today. Victoria is a town on Vancouver Island which is a few hours off the coast of Vancouver. Nothing much of note here, not sure why we have two nights here instead of an extra day in Japer, but I'm sure they have their reason. Monetary ones, probably. Yash and I went whale watching in the morning though and managed to spot quite a number of whales around our boat, jumping, diving and doing all sorts of whale-type things. Yash and I also managed to stack quite spectacularly on the deck and I'm still limping a bit from that, always a good way to end a trip, no doubt. There's not a whole lot to do in Victoria, despite our tour leader Rika's proud proclomations. Another Fairmont ... read more

An early start for Whistler this morning. Much time spent on the bus, but we did manage to spot a wolf sitting on the side of the road so that was a bit of a bonus. Whister is a big ski resort which is going to play a pretty major role at the upcoming Winter Olympics. Despite the fact it was summer and no snow to be found, the town was still bustling with activity, even if they were all either half-mad extreme mountain bikers, or the rest of Australia's youth who had decided against (or were rejected by?) UK's working holiday program and were forced to go to Canada instead. After being turned away by a few cafe/restaraunts with bar licences because Yash is underage (drinking age in British Columbia is 19 and they are ... read more

Hey all, I have probably seen most of you by now, but I thought a little update would be a good idea. I'm back at home, right into the old life, except I can't stop partying and not worrying about a thing. But this last week has been so much fun, besides the fact that I thought it's supposed to be summer here! It's been so good to see the fam, and all my friends, even though I've already driven up and down the island twice and to Campbell River and back. But it's all worth it because everytime you see someone you love it just might be the last! And my family is so, so, so amazing, and my friends well, you know who you are...whether that is good or bad, you'll never know!! haha! ... read more

This morning I woke up and rolled onto my back, stared at the ceiling and thought about what job I had to go to today.. 5 seconds later I recalled that I had quit my jobs a few weeks back and I.. yes I.. only had three more mornings to wake up here in Victoria... It was an odd feeling but it made my toes tingle and I've decided that often means that something good is going to happen (or that my foot has fallen asleep). I just got back from camping on the Cowichan Lake and I have to say it was beautiful, there is nothing like watching a glorious sunset with a good close friend... accented with Eagles flying over head and the finale of the evening of a billion million stars. Managed to ... read more

Town's buzzing - entertaining day, lots going on - harbour festival (which charged admission fee - everyone who knows me will know that im a tight ass, needless to say we didnt go to that one), Jazz fest & various other Canada day entertainments. We didnt do much other than people watch (cheapest option) followed by chilling out at the Jazz fest which was wicked as it was outside and it was a beautiful day. Getting a sun tan whilst listening to jazz def recommend that one, as our Auz friends would say AWESOME. Evening time was different, while the city was getting geared up for a big-style celebration (and we MEAN BIG STYLE - check out the photo below), we decided to indulge in nachos !! It wasnt just nachos with cheese, it was layer ... read more

So I’m just killing time at home waiting for this trip to get started. I’m running the odd errand here and there, but they are things I could have wrapped up a week ago and could be ready to hit the road at a days notice. Unfortunately I have a few more days until it’s time to fly out, but with no work or any other commitments I’m feeling fairly bored and impatient for my trip to start. On the plus side my visa for China arrived today. I knew it wouldn’t be a problem as I planned out enough time to get it processed and returned before I needed to leave. Some uneasiness, however, had set in as it was the last true obstacle before this trip became a reality. But now that it’s ... read more

Hey everyone! I'm gonna try and write in this blog for my short trip to Thailand with Bryan, Will, and Raj. How often I update this, who knows... But every time I do, you'll all be notified. I can put a bunch of pictures and notes and such on here, so this should be a great way to share some of my trip with everyone. We're taking the 7am ferry tomorrow morning to Vancouver. Our flight leaves at 2:50pm, and we arrive in Bangkok around 1am... Not sure if the day will be the 15th or the 16th though... I can't remember off the top of my head. We've got no plans when we land other than that we're heading to Kao Sahn Road, which is where all of the backpackers stay. Should be good times, ... read more
