Svou poslední část kapitoly o mém dobrovolnictví na Vancouver Island jsem ukončila tím, že Němci odjeli a já měla mít domeček pro sebe! :) Tak tomu taky bylo :) Vzala jsem si ten větší pokoj, který byl světlejší a cítila z něj pozitivní energii. Ze začátku tam bylo trochu smutno, to víte, zvyknete si být obklopeni lidmi a najednou nic. Ale tento pocit netrval dlouho, pak jsem si to začala užívat:) Ptali se mě, jestli se tam nebojím, ale já se opravdu nebála. Dědeček mi vždycky říkal, ničeho se bát nemusíš, jen zlých lidí. A ty v divočině nehrozili:) Lidé si tam ani nezamykají domy, auta, nic. Hi Y'all, August has finally arrived and we're starting our long planned holiday in Canada. I'll be revisiting friends I've seen here before but it's Liz's first time across the pond. Our itinerary is as follows: Fly to Vancouver, 1 full day sightseeing. Pick up hire car and ferry to Vancouver Island to stay for 10 days with my good friends Larry & Judy in Port Alberni. 2 day trip to Ucluelet on the Pacific Rim. Then back across on the ferry to the Sunshine Coast and Whistler, Kamloops, Clearwater, Jasper, Banff and on to Calgary. Stay with my old colleague Tony Thomas for 2 nights before flying home. We work very hard and actually too many hours with Kevin, so he urges us to finally go and experience the island a little bit. Tofino is our destination but as always we start late in the day and therefore it gets dark pretty quick. We decide to stay at the coast and find a place next to the water. Easier said than done. All along the coast are houses and long private properties. We drive very far up the coast, on very dark gravel roads only to realize, that we have a better chance in the little village Qualicum Beach. So we have all we will be packing on our backs laying out in the livingroom... It seems like a lot of stuff. Packing for a year is a daunting task. But I think we have done it! We had a great tip from a family friend. You know how people say to have an extra copy of your identification... Our friend said to scan it in at home and e-mail it to yourself. That way if you lose the copy you made you can always print another if you need it. I just thought that was a good idea that I would share.... read more
