Hi All, Our tenants from our house arrived in Puerto Vallarta on Dec 6th, rented a trailer in our park for 3 nights and then moved to our trailer on Jan 9th, the same day we flew from PV to Edmonton. A brisk -45C, the coldest place on the planet, I know I had trouble believing it as well!! As always we spent a wonderful week visiting the Aunties and cousins, then flew home to wonderful New Westminster. Carli and the kids picked us up at the airport and it was such a joy to see them. We have moved back into our family home because our tenants are in our mini home in PV. I hope they enjoy our PV home as much as we will enjoy our BC home. ... read more

We're home!! We had an uneventful trip home from Mexico and thats what every Rver hopes for. No trailer trouble, no truck trouble. Before we left Mexico, there was huge concerns about the drug wars in Mexico. We chose to only stay in campgrounds, instead of Pemex gas staions, and travelled with another couple for safety. We took it very seriously but after all we do live in Vancouver. Could Mexico be any worse!! No problems. Took 3 days to get across the Mexico/US border and arrived in Yuma. It was nice to hit the grocery store and clothes stores. We toured around a little and met up with fellow LaPenita people for dinner one night. We have such a large RV network now, it is great. 80% of Lapenita campers are from B.C. or at ... read more

For any of you wondering, Evan and the girls had an amazing whale watching tour. The people they went with enjoyed watching Evan more then the whales. We happened to meet them all at the market the next day and they couldn’t say enough about him and the trip. I guess the whole boat had the expression, mimicked after Evan “It’s OK, its only a whale”. Can’t you just hear it over and over and over and over again. We had a wonderful trip home to New Westminster for Christmas but man, did it snow. Clay and Hiroko picked us up at the airport on Dec 16th, the grass was green but there was just a nice little bit of snow flying around in the air. Well, that was the end of the green. Never saw ... read more

Heyy, I still cannot believe I am doing this!!! In two days I will be on a plane to Paris! Probably crying my eyes out for the first 2 hours of the flight.. sorry Ewa :( Today has been spent panicking and running all over Vancouver getting all those last little things I need. (Thank you Erik) I have still not figured out how all of my stuff is going to fit in ONE backpack... where do my heels and hairstraightner go? This trip is going to be amazing. Ewa has written an entire 34 page Travel Manual for this trip that is going to keep us pretty busy; she has a scheduled right down to the hair cut in Italy :) I luv you Ewa! I have been told when going on an adventure such ... read more

Heh, remember the saga of the dented rental car that Larry and I returned to Sydney, Australia. We had charged it on our RBC Avion Visa card and hoped the rental car insurance would cover the damage. When we got home from Australia, there was a cheque for the full amount of the repair plus tax. $1,055. The system works. We just had to fax all the copies to Visa and they investigated and came through. The moral of the story is - don't pay for extra insurance, if you have a Visa card that includes Car Rental insurance but phone your card provider because not all Visa cards are created equal. Thats the happy ending!! Have a great summer. ... read more

Well we are home and it is just as wonderful as I could have hoped!! Had 2 lovely days in Hunter Valley wine area. Stayed at a great place but you know what, we are wined out, toured out. The only real interesting thing about the place was that one of the wineries had a breathalyzer. I had myself put on the car insurance just for this part of our trip and I'm glad I did. The legal limit is .05 and that is not alot. Larry picked a straw out of a bin, inserted the straw in a slot in the machine and blew like crazy, waited for a few minutes and up popped .053. That really was OK because I was driving at this point but that was our second winery!! Most wineries also ... read more

Well Everyone.. Here I go again two years later on another journey. I thought I would take a rare moment to do a trial blog and make sure everything is up and working for my next adventure. As some of you already know April 29th I will be leaving for Nairobi, Kenya for a month. Perhaps I should back track for some of you around the world that I have not spoken to in some time. Last year thanks to some very amazing people (Dr. Jan Hill, Jon Cohen, Allison Coumont and Tamra Roberts) I was able incorporated a society with the help of McCarthy Tetrault (one of Canada's biggest law firms who registered the Passion Foundation pro bono, thanks Sam!). The society will soon become a charitable organization and my goal is to have a ... read more

Here it is January 8th. I finished working on Friday, Jan 4th and Larry will finish January 11th. We had a great Christmas and New Year. Lots of friends and family. Christmas Eve saw 27 of us eating lasagne, chicken wings and salad as is Family Tradition and then up the next morning to go to Ross and Bonnie's for gift opening, home to cook turkey for Clayton, Evan, Mike and Margaret Walsh and Katherine and Karl. It was fun Santa came on Christmas Eve to the children's delight. Our family has certainly taken a shift in the last few years. We had 7 little kids here Chrismas eve. 5 were 3 and under. It was crazy but I would not have traded it for the world. Took the truck off the road. Larry cleaned out ... read more

Hey guys, I'm just setting up my blog, I hope you like it! Haven't left yet, but will be heading out on Tuesday morning at 7am. I've got my passport, visa and hopefully enough cash to last me for the first month until I get paid. But as you may have guessed, I don't speak a lick of Japanese, so my first few days should be filled with tons of confusion and me feeling like I made a big mistake. I was hoping that my employer was going to send me someone to pick me up at the airport, but apparently I have to get to Kofu (about an hour and half north east of Tokyo) by myself. They gave the schedule for the bus that goes there and said that I could just ask someone ... read more
