Wednesday 14 2014. Loch Lomond, Scotland. After leaving Ireland on Friday 9th May, we arrived at Manchester after an hours flight and picked up another car, same make and model, but as usual called something else. Can’t have the same thing in Ireland and the UK, god forbid. Anyway we hit peak hour traffic on the M60, same has Sydney, so it took us 90 minutes to get to Rochdale and my Cousin Joanne’s house. We spent the next three days with Joanne, Nathan and their children, Jess, Oliver and Sophia. As usual, time went to quick along with the amount of beer and wine they had stocked up. After Ireland we needed the rest again, so Nathan and Joanne’s was a great chance to recharge the batteries and catch up the newest members of the ... read more

After breakfast we got on the coach and headed to Loch Ness. We went on a cruise of the lake. It was a slow moving, large boat. This was perfect for me due to the fact I'm not the biggest fan of boats and the potential to drown to my death. The loch is beautiful in the morning with a slight mist around it. The boat played an audio tour as we sailed around. I had a tea on board and just took in the scenery. Afterwards, we got back on the bus for a long two and a half drive to our next stop. With another British breakfast buffet to fill our bellies we were off to St. Andrew's! Traveling through the Scottish countryside is breathtaking. There is so much lavender growing across the fields, it is so beautiful. Once we got to St. Andrew's, we reenacted the "Chariots of Fire" running scene across the beach...the pictures were so funny. Then, we walked around the grounds. I am not that into golf, but the fact it is the birthplace of golf and is so old intrigued me. Again, the landscape was very beautiful. After purchasing a scorecard and a caffe latte, it was back ... read more

Finally got everything booked through CAA travel. Agent was helpfull and probably got us some decent prices but we were unsure of her reliablily and made sure all bookings were confirmed. Our seats on the flight are supposed to be 2 seats together near a window, as opposed to 2 seats in a 3 or 4 seat configuration down the middle of the plane. This way we only have ourselves to deal with when getting up and we get a view, such as it will be on a night flight. The plan is to go on the Royal Scottish Tour - Scottish Wonder bus tour for the first week. Then for the second week will be a driving tour which we hope will include some geocaching in some very beautiful areas. ... read more
