Rosslyn reminded me of the Scrovegni Chapel in Italy . Take no photographs . It takes away the pleasure of others . The chapel is too small and you will cause a gridlock as you stand and take a photograph. The reality - buy a guidebook or a postcard. Sounds like a good ploy to make money doesnt it ? The car park was large and Gabby was not taking up too much of it . There was plenty of room for vans to stop overnight but yes you guessed it . No photos and no parking overnight . Move on you are not welcome . Just go up the road . There is a CL site . A small property where five vans can stay overnight. There were electric charging points on the park . ... read more

Scotland 2017 – Magical Land Day 1 With a smooth 6 hour plane ride we had a graceful landing into sunshine. What? I even got some nice video of the landing itself. Maneuvered thru the airport to collect our rental van and out into the land of unicorns. Okay so here the niceties stop. Google Maps have brutal directions and we will not be using that process again. After a couple of U-turns thru the roundabouts we found the Falkirk Wheel. Unlike the lift locks that are familiar to us, the Wheel moves 2 boats in opposite directions connecting the series of canals. Weather is 13 degrees and sunny with a little bit of clouds. Sorry guys, no pictures today as we spent the evening with Lori & Nigel and ran out of time to upload the pics. Started our day at the Dalhousie Castle with a huge traditional Scottish breakfast (haggis, black pudding, sausage, back bacon, fried mushrooms, tomato, potato scones and eggs. Wow, didn't eat again until dinner time. Checked out of the castle (many thanks to the FANTASTIC staff at Dalhousie Castle) and visited Roslin Chapel and Roslin Castle. We then made our way to Lori & Nigel's place in Balerno, SW of Edinburgh with a few detours along the way as we got lost a few times (tree covered road signs).
