We journeyed to Belfast, mostly to see the Giant's Causeway and the Antrim Coast. We took a tour (gasp) with a bunch of other people. It was good, though. The Antrim Coast is beautiful and the Causeway is amazing! The Causeway was built up from a lava flow a long, long time ago. We also stopped at the Bushmills Distillery and found out that we do like whiskey, but the good kind. Other than that Belfast was ok, we didn't see too much there. We took a ferry from Belfast to Stranraer, Scotland. It was pretty routine, but once we hit land we had troubles getting to Glasgow. The train which we were going to take left the station because we were late on the ferry. Fortunately, the company had a bus to take us up ... read more

:( Our final day of the Wild in Scotland tour. We piled into the bus and began on our way. We fist stopped at a random shore line. We saw mussel nets and a still gorgeous view of the highlands of Scotland. From there we went to Culloden battlefield. The very last battle on the Scottish soil. It was between the Jacobite Army and Bonnie Prince Charlie verses the British Government. Like most Scottish stories, this was very gory. Obviously, since Scotland's still pledged loyalty to England, the Jacobite Army lost. It was a slaughter fest. The British army of 10,000 - fully equipped - was no match for 4,000 Jacobites. Neil explained the Highland Charge to us and how the British finally learned how to counter it. He also pointed out the poor choice in ... read more

Well here we go again, not as far a field this time only upto bonnie Scotland for a quick jaunt. We are setting off this time with some friends John and Sally and Nicky and Chopper (aka Clive) to navigate our way by foot along the Great Glen Way, a whole 74 miles no cars no bikes and no one to carry the bags, from inverness to Fort William. If all tht works ok the Ben Nevis is the challange at the end. As we have to carry everything with us the excercise of reducing the weight has been somewhat exausting, but have managed to get it down to 13 kilos for the two of us. Flying in the morning and will keep you posted as we go. Will endeavour to get some pics up of ... read more

Thi task is not as easy as it seems, taking an image is fair enough but to have a reasonable photo each day is tough, we are seeing January out with lightening nights and mornings and i hope that this will improve the selection of locations. the weather has been appauling, but I have looked to find inspiration in the area and I think the monochrome images suit the place and time of year... read more

Well we have made it to the north of Scotland. We arrived in Glasgow and spent two very wet days there. It is a big city and isn't really tourist orientated, however it was lovely to get back to a English speaking country! We took the tourist bus and trekked around the city it was nice to look at. We had lunch at a quite Scottish pub where Troy ordered authentic Scottish Ale (hot and flat), Rhiannon didn't mind it. We then jumped on a bus (which cost a total of 11 Pounds for two) to Inverness. On the way up the country we saw SNOW thick beautiful white snow but.... we couldn't stop so Rhiannon once again has missed out on the snow angel experience. Inverness is the town closest to Loch Ness ....home of ... read more
