Geo: 57.4767, -4.23145We were quite excited about meeting our tour group- people we would be spending the next 5 day with. Our bus driver/guide was a Scottish guy called Neil- a fellow vegetarian! There were about 25 people in our group. A few Aussie girls, a Canadian girl and the rest were from Japan and Taiwan. Am so glad I did this trip with a friend! We got comfy on the minibus and then hit the road. A little while later we stopped and went for a walk through a forest and saw a waterfall. ... read more

Drove from Edinburgh, up through the Scottish Highlands to Inverness, at the mouth of the River Ness. Inverness is a nice town/city and at the start of Loch Ness. It seems’ a whole industry has been built upon ‘the monster’. There is B&Bs and hotels, restaurants etc etc everywhere. Our B&B host was a fine example of a gruff Scotsman. He was shitty we wanted breakfast at 8.30 in the morning, it was going to interrupt his hangover time so we had to wait until after 9, which is a pain because it gets dark here at 4 pm, he then wanted to give us his opinion on everything, complained about the work involved with guests, but gladly took our money. In fact he was a Scottish Basil Fawlty. He also claimed to make the best ... read more

We have had a great time in Nairn and survived the freezing cold. We even managed to get the roof down on the convertible. What a wank!! The rain went away for a while and let the sun out for a day but the weather was still freezing.....Anyway when in Rome......and the roof goes down.... read more

Scotland - The home of Robbie Burns, Aunty Mary and John's birthplace. And we thought England was cold. It snowed on the way to Inverness. Gale force winds, slate and snow. Apparently it is too early to snow yet. Is that what the experts say??? We have news for them. Somehow we will get to open the roof on the Peugot Convertible before we have to return it............Somehow.... read more

Around The World In 11 Months Firstly, it's been a ridiculous delay, but after finally managing to get our New York blogs up we made a start on writing this but never got around to finishing it. Job applications and interviews got in the way (back to earth with a crash). Since we've returned, we've had a hundred and one things to do and unfortunately our blog fell off the list of priorities. Partly because we were now able to speak in person to a lot of people who read it but mainly because it doesn't seem as relevant now that we're back in "reality". It is just as relevant as ever though as it wasn't just written for others to read, but also as a complete account of our journey. We'd always intended to finish ... read more

Day four--St. Andrews to Inverness to Isle of Skye Woke up early to get ready for breakfast at Northpoint (a neat little cafe in St. Andrews) with our friends and their friend Sandra that we met the previous night. As I finished getting dressed in the bedroom I heard a strange sound coming from behind the door....when I looked at the door I noticed it was starting to move. "Ou...ou...ou" I heard as the door seemed to be rammed by something on the other side. Suddenly, I see a hand...a little hand...and then...a little face... It was our friends one-year-old who had already been asleep by the time we arrived the previous night. He is...ADORABLE!!! He looked up at me with this very confused face...I can only imagine he was wondering why I was in his ... read more

This morning we had to get up really early so mom could drop us off at the train station before going to work. We ended up being able to catch an earlier train than expected on each leg except for the last one. We had to kill 2 hours in the Edinburgh train station because we had just missed the train. When we finally went to catch our train, it turned out that almost all the seats were reserved, so we had to spend the entire trip in tiny little fold-up seats by the doors. It was ok, but not very comfortable. Thankfully, when we arrived in Inverness, our hotel was right next to the train station, so we didn't have to walk far at all. For dinner, we went to a pub. It was very ... read more
