After months of planning, the day has finally arrived. After a frantic night of packing and checking and double checking we are ready. Sad to leave sunny Fife behind but I am sure Lima will welcome us with open arms.... read more

Thursday, October 4, 2007 I loved St. Andrews so much when my parents and I were there a couple of weeks ago that I decided to come back for the day. It’s a beautiful town, and I think it’s my favorite in Scotland. There was a golf tournament going on, and dad told me that it was a pro-am, meaning there were professionals and ameteurs(celebrities) so I thought it would be cool. Well, watching golf in person is just as boring as watching it on tv...plus I didn’t get to see any big stars, no Bill Murray, or George Lopez, or Samuel L. Jackson, or even Hugh Grant! They must have all been playing on different courses. There were three different courses they were using to play the tournament, and the Old Course at St. Andrews ... read more

Monday we drove to St Andrews, which I’ve decided is my favorite town in Scotland. It’s so pretty. I’d live here if I had the chance. I was only there for the day, and was going to take a bus back to Edinburgh that night. The hotel my parents was staying at was right on the Old Course, and in fact, their bedroom overlooked the 18th (and 1st) hole. We saw the famous Swilcan Bridge, where every golfer walks over between the 17th and 18th hole. We walked around town, looking at the university, castle, chapel, etc. The University of St Andrews is the oldest in Scotland, founded in 1410-11. We walked thru the quads of St. Salvator’s in North Street. Of course, you can’t get away from golf in this town-the links at St. Andrews ... read more

Missus Lorraine Dunbar By Miss Wendy O The Hen Night Dream Boyz, pink fluffy handcuffs and a dancing pole …. But enough about the stag night, the hen event was a much classier affair. In the afternoon, Lauren, Helen, Erin, Lorraine and I took off to Dunfermline for a spot of water-skiing. Of course a bottle of champagne was in order to prepare us for the cold icy waters on this drizzly Scottish afternoon. The Hen was first up and got to her feet before swallowing half the murky loch and retiring. I had a go wakeboarding, which was heaps of fun and had a few impressive falls as always. Erin created a new water-skiing technique called the J-Lo Style for obvious reasons (see photo), Lauren took to the water like a shark and Helen also ... read more

WELCOME Although this is my first entry into travelblog, I am currently writing this from my home. The travels I have been on lately were, 3 months spent in the U.S.A last year, and a couple of week I spent in the Dominican Republic this year. The plans I hope to make for trips upcoming. I, along with my mate Gavin hope to go to New York for the forthcoming Christmas - New Year holiday season. A little bit about what’s going on right now. I currently work for Sky Television, in the sales dept. the job is ok, but, only the means to an end. Basic salary is ok, but, at times can make very good bonuses. I am trying to get my physical condition into a better place. I am keeping active by cycling ... read more

Well, today I had another adventure out of Edinburgh... Unfortunately it wasn't all I expected. Our Scottish Culture and Society class was taking a field trip Falkland Palace, St. Andrews, and Crail. Our first stop was supposed to be at the famous Forth Rail Bridge, so that we could get out and take some photos. Unfortunately, our "tour guide" (I shall rename him a talkaholic, for he refused to quit talking only unto the last 20 minutes of the busride back to Edinburgh. I mean he gives tour guides a bad name!) was blabbing so much that he failed to give our bus driver the proper directions. As a result we turned down the road the wrong way and almost hit the other bus for our class going down the proper way. There bus, which ... read more

I actually competed in the last competition for the Aberdeen University trampolining club in Saint Andrews on St. Patties day. Not just for the notive level, but for the advanced bouncing routine. I did absolutely horribly, but hey, I got to wear a leotard in Scotland. How cool is that! Also, the men's elite championships were ridiculously amazing. Just like the olympics but in real life with real people in front of you.... read more

So, here in Alba, we don’t get a Thanksgiving break, of course, but we do get an entire week’s worth of Reading Days. Mine got off to a running start with a visit from Katelyn “Kinky” Finley, whose reading week was just finishing. She arrived on Thursday evening. On Friday, I got up at 5:00 to cram for my chemistry test, and Katelyn got up too - for a slightly more fun reason; she walked to the gorgeous East Sands to see the sun rise. She then took the bus to Edinburgh for the day. But when she came back that night, I had finished both assignments and was ready to spend some time studying the properties of R-OH (organic has that effect on me - being incredibly bored and distraught while reading phrases like “the ... read more
