Well, we’re a week away from flying off to Kenya to get married. Are we ready? Not yet. The never-ending stream of things we need to do is, well, never- ending. We’re still trying to finalise the legal niceties (we don’t want a Mick Jagger / Jerry Hall moment), there’s still a couple of restaurants to book and I’ve got a couple of surprises to line up for Fi. Our biggest issue at the moment though is finding a photographer. For some reason there doesn’t seem to be a surplus of them in the middle of the Masai Mara. If the camp cannot get something arranged soon, we might have to rely on a passing tourist! But at least we have the tickets. Whenever we’re going away on a big holiday - the moment the tickets ... read more

It was a hectic weekend all round, what with everyone making sure we were actually leaving. We spent Friday night saying goodbye to the Kilburn gang, and got a timely reminder of how long we have known everyone and the fun we have had along the way. Emily - the photo album is incredible, thanks for putting it together. So on Saturday, armed with a monster hangover, we set off east to Karl's for our proper send off. The boy really had gone to town and we can't thank him enough for all he provided, even if we did have to wear Angel wings for most of the evening!! There's not really much more I can say about a great night, other than to let the pictures do the talking. So this really is it. We ... read more

The perfect way to round off our trip in Geoff's footsteps to Canada (see earlier blogs). Mum, me and my dog Luca travelled to the Lake district in the North of England on a very wet and windy day to attend the war memorials in Kendal that both have Geoff's name on them. One in the Market Place and the other in .........Park near Romney Bridge. We'd also booked an appointment with the local newspaper The Westmorland Gazette to tell them our story and maybe get an article published along with the rest of the round up of Rememberance Day news. Never been a model for a newspaper photo before, it kept raining and was quite an interesting experience!!! The article was published the weekend after Remeberance Sunday and generated lots of calls from relatives and ... read more

Week 3 13th First week of work was alright nothing overly special I get to catch a train for 40min across London to Camden Council where I’m a glorified call logger! So I fix as much as I can but I’m fighting against all the standard restrictions and lack of permissions, so can’t really fix that much but at least it’s pays(£14 - $40 an hour;-p) well and is keeps my weekends free for traveling;-) I haven’t ride the 14miles to work yet but intent to try in the next couple weeks. I’ve arranged a trip with Ariane and Conor to oxford this weekend which should be great. Naomi can’t make it as she is in Ireland with her opar family. This week on the Ebay front;-p I bought a blowup mattress, an external hard drive ... read more

I got up early for another day of work. There was a bit of a queue for the ticket, and missed my train. I also missed the one after it by a matter of minutes - or part there of - which was a little annoying as the train was still in the station when I went to get on it! I was directed to another train on platform 4, and managed to get to MWH not too late. At lunch time I went across to Morrison to get some food and found myself buying some pot plants for my desk at work and one for my flat. I sent in my first time sheet to my recruitment agency today, so hopefully I’ll get paid soon! On the way home I went to the card shop ... read more

....home of the English Dictionary Well, at least one of them. Teehee. Okay, first of all, lets start with the apology. I'm sorry this has taken a month. I've had plenty of time and merely lacked the inclination. I hereby promise to be more diligent in future. Promise. I won't describe what we've been up to in Oxford in quite the excruciating detail you've become used to with this thing, but I'll still tell you a few stories. First of all, Oxford. It's a beautiful town. It's old, it's so very old. Just a few facts - All Souls College was founded in 1428. That's almost 600 years ago. There is a tower on Cornmarket that is nearly 1000 years old. That's really old. It can be a little overwhelming, but it makes a city like ... read more

WEEK 2 Over the weekend I had checked out a flat in Canada Water, which is really close to London Bridge. A whole bunch of French guys had moved out and a kiwi couple (Andre & Lisa) from Dunedin had just moved in. They wanted someone to move in asap so it was perfect. I made the mission with all my gear during the middle of the day so there was hardly anyone around. I spent this week, applying for more jobs, checking out the new neighbourhood, and playing hours of electronic darts. I got quite a few calls about jobs but people call once and say they will get back to you but never do. It is a case of constantly tracking people down and checking up on progress. We also had a fourth flat ... read more

It is quite amazing to see the number of people reading my blog, so far I have over 4500 views. Wow! I hope you enjoy reading it... After a quick visit in Brussels I was off for a quick visit to London. I have lived three and a half years in London, I did most of my university studies there, so I'm certainly not unfamiliar with the city. I mostly stopped there to do some more christmas shopping and to get the most out of my round the world ticket. They have already started to prepare for christmas, lots of nice christmas decorations in central London along Oxford Street and Regent Street, actually much better than most of the previous years. I was impressed! I once again stayed one night in a Radisson hotel, this time ... read more

Well as the title suggests, just one week left until we set off. Over the last couple of weeks its been party time as we have said goodbye to workmates, friends and family, but now its time to knuckle down to final prep. Tomorrow we're heading over to Hull to get our Thai Visas sorted in person (that way its quicker, cheaper and theres less chance of it getting lost in the post/passports going missing/being accidentally entered into the Ladyboy Exchange Programme). Also this week we have the heartbreaking task of saying goodbye to our boys, Pikey and Wayne (to those who don't know they are our goldfish) and a big thanks to Steph who will become their new foster mother hehe. After that all we are left with is the small task of getting rid ... read more
