Donc, la soirée de parents des Year 12 était lundi soir et mercredi matin, ma tutrice m’a dit : « We talked about you on Monday evening. Do you know what Jessica Brown told me when I saw her with her parents? - Euh no, obviously not. - She said ‘Claudine is wonderful, she’s like my new best friend now!’ - Oh did she? Really? » J’étais tellement contente (parce que j’adore cette fille-là) que je me suis stupidement mise à rougir. Et l’autre professeur avec nous, Peter, n’arrête pas de me niaiser avec ça ... read more

Those of you converned about our trip to India, with recent events on the TV from Mumbai, we do not go to central India, just the North and South of the country. Lifted from the FCO website "Following the terrorist attacks between 26 and 30 November, Mumbai is returning to a degree of normality."... read more

My Berghaus 25 L rucksack has returned from Tundra, and what a fantastic repair it is. Well done Tundra. The replacement lid buckle and pocket zip are original Berghaus parts, and these parts are superior to the originals. The stitching is of an excellent quality as well, you wouldn't know, that my 21 years old rucksack has been repaired. Just needs a good wash!... read more

If there is ever a time to be homesick while studying abroad, I'm pretty sure the holiday season is a very legitimate time. I had never celebrated Thanksgiving without my family, so I was expecting dinner with Lily's study abroad program to feel quite awkward. Fortunately, I was wrong; I actually had a really good time and was very thankful that I was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with some of my closest friends in England. Dickinson College, where Lily goes to school, has a huge connection with UEA, and they rotate their own professors to teach here in Norwich. Because of this affiliation, each year, around 50 students from Dickinson alone study abroad at UEA. One of the visiting professors this year teaches in the environmental science program, and he and his family hosted Thanksgiving dinner ... read more

Four weeks to go before our holiday. Our Indian VISAs have arrived back from B'Ham yesterday, so lets hope the pound gets stronger against the dollar, before we buy them! I've also sent my Berghaus Dart 25L rucksack (daysack) for repair to Tundra, who specialise in Berghaus rucksack repairs, because the zip on the pocket, and lid buckle broke. It's 21 years old, and couldn't find a suitable new replacement, and it has travelled with me all over the world (well about 5%), so I thought I'd get it repaired, the waterproofing failed years ago, but I use a drysac inside, and I'm expecting it to be HOT in India!... read more

Travel clinic that is, to see the Travel Clinic nurse to discuss what inoculations we need this time. It had been mentioned we need top-ups on Typhoid, and may need Rabies and Japanese Encephalitis, as well as the usual prescriptions for Anti-Malaria, and broad-spectrum anti-biotics for a severve case of the rangoon runs (just in case, be prepared!)... read more

Apart from a sore arm after having my Typoid top-up booster, we won't be needing anti-malarials for India, because the parts of India we are travelling to are classed as low risk. (information provide by MASTA), and we've decided not to have the Rabies or Japanese Encephalitis jabs.... read more
