Thursday morning we took the train to York, and got there just as it was getting dark, so we got to walk around the city, but it was too dark to take pictures. Friday we toured Yorkminster (largest gothic cathedral in Britain), saw a statues of Constatine & where he was crowned emperor around 300AD. The city walls are still in tact from Roman times, so you can climb up those & get a pretty good view of the city. There were also some pretty cool ruins in the museum gardens next to Saint Olave church.... read more

Saying Byes     It’s the 30th of July and my husband has just informed me that we need to in less than a week. Leave home. Pack ALL bags. Pack ALL our stuff. And leave. In under 7 days.   Only men can assume the impossible is possible - which is why I suspect we (as in humankind) are where we are today.   I spend an emotional and heavy-hearted weekend with my folks (who live in the same city - much to my spouse’s chagrin!). And before I know it, the Packers and Movers are in.   I walk in Day II of the Packing activity and my beautiful house has been reduced to a cardboard and bubble paper dump. Yeah!! I got that great tour leading job I was going on and on about and I am absolutely thrilled!! Though, to tell you the truth, after 2 full years in the UK, I am really really going to miss it and all its crazy ways. I think I'm going to miss it more ... read more

I am safely back in York and happy to be here!! I can finally stop sharpening my elbows to defend myself against the throngs of people coming my way . . . yup, London can be a bit stressful at times! So can the bus rides - I have been tickled ON THE BUS by a complete stranger AGAIN! Yes, that's right - all my friends will remember that horror story of my bus ride to Cardiff last year when I was tickled by the Tom Jones look alike with more gold rings than fingers!! I actually had to tell him outright to stop tickling me (I did not think he would stop!! (which made me turn to the window and crack up with laughter because I never in my wildest dreams thought I would EVER have ... read more

Well, it's just another Tuesday here in York but I have a bit of a dilemma. I have been off sick (with the evilest of diseases which left my throat ruined by blisters and my tongue swollen like mad . . ) but am slowly recovering only to realize that I don't have a job . . . (ah, the joys of temping - - - you are completely replaceable!!) So yesterday I phoned up this place in the Yorkshire Dales which need female GAs and it sounds great, I got the job, etc and I start on Friday. I'm excited enough about it but I really just need a job for a couple of weeks or so as I really really want to do this whole tour leader thing with a pretty cool travel company. ... read more
