A National Trust sort of day today and two beauties on our doorstep. First stop Blickling Hall, an early 1600 mansion of beautiful proportions and balance. The lady in the car park was delighted to see us as she had a tiny weeny parking spot just waiting for a Smart Arse like ours. She said they are super busy at the moment and yesterday they had to close the carpark as it was full. This is of course because there are so many people holidaying in England because of Covid who would normally be abroad. Oddly that has nothing to do with why Bob and I are most unusually visiting Norfolk and in August. Woke to a wet day. Maybe not heavy rain but some pretty persistently wet drizzle which stayed all day under a very low cloud. Packed up and ready to move on but not until we had used the super shower in our new van. Much better than going outside and across a very short bit of field to the campsite block and as we have no facilities at all at the next site we might as well get used to using only our own. Smart Arse loaded onto the Aframe and hitched to the back of the motorhome in record time. We are getting more familiar with it now. And off we went. Geo: 52.9428, 1.20852They say mad dogs and Englishman go out in the midday sun and Sheringham certainly confirmed this. Top less pastey white bodies scattered across the pebbled beaches. A sea of OAP's filling up the narrow pavements and generally getting in the way of anyone else actually trying to get anywhere. A quaint little seaside village with all manner of charity shops selling bric-a-brac and other junk no one really wants. Despite this I like the place. Great lunch at the crown overlooking the North Sea sea wall. Prawn baguette for me and roast beef sarnie for Chris. All washed down with a pint of Stella.washing done and ready to pack for Frankfurt tomorrow.... read more
