Sorry it has been a while, it seems that every entry is going to start with that wonderful opening. I have been extremely busy, know excuse I know, but it happens. My mother was here for the week I had off of school as as you can imagine we were doing all things touristy. There were things, I am ashamed to say, that I have not done since I was a tourist here. Including the tower of London, I had forgotten how much I liked that place. We had the same beefeater that we had over a year ago, and it was kind of cool, because I like to think of it as the place that Chris and I had our first date... so what if my dad and sister were there, and he was avoiding ... read more

So now I’ve started classes and gotten into a routine, plus I have done some more traveling as well. But to start off, I will tell you about my courses. I am in Medieval Britain, Modern Wales, Welsh Culture, and Outdoor Pursuits. The first two are the classes I take within the university and each has a lecture once a week, and then a seminar once a week to supplement that. Welsh Culture is Tecwyn’s class and that is kind of simplified for Americans, so it helps catch me up with my other British history classes. Outdoor Pursuits (OP) is all day Tuesday and is just that; we do activities outdoors that are not even heard of in Iowa, but I will go more into detail of OP later. The classes are very different than I ... read more

Trip to Liverpool January 31st, 9am, Departure from University to Liverpool via Coach The ride over was pleasant as the English countryside is absolutely amazing. Never have I ever seen 1.5 hours of green rolling hills dotted with cottages and lakes and yes....a nuclear power plant. The trip was organized by the International student office at a cost of 14 pounds. At first I only new one girl, Chelsea from New Zealand, but quickly made friends with a couple chicks sitting in front of me...Britney and Kat from Canada (the US's retarded deaf step-brother of the North). Anyway, they were cool enough and after arriving at Liverpool we ventured off as a 4 person group. Obviously, me being the only male in the group, I was left in charge of the map and I must say, ... read more

another day, another airport. check out my jet set lifestyle! ok, so it's not really that exciting, i'd go so far as to airports are boring, but hey, this is pretty cool i guess. to be entirely honest, i always do an airport blog, and i dont know why. i don't have much to say really, i'm flying to riga and then getting a bus to tallinn. everyone already knows this, so this is pretty much just a wasted entry. here's what i've done since i got back from venezuela. i went to liverpool a couple of times and i saw my friends. what a thrilling life! either way, i had a good few times in liverpool, and it was quite nice being seen off by ash, andrew and bryn this morning. although the abuse they ... read more

Liverpool has her ticket to ride after the city became the European capital of culture for 2008. Everything is going gangbusters for this historically important seafaring capital, which for two hundred years was at the centre of transatlantic shipping. Liverpool provided the last glimpse of Europe for many millions of people emigrating to the new world, as they sailed off to North America or Australia to start new lives. The level of construction at the site of Liverpool One is on a monumental scale, and the original catalyst for the rebirth of this magnificent city has been the world renowned renovations to Albert Dock, completed in the early 1980's. If you pay a visit to Albert Dock there's plenty to see and do, including the Beatles story museum and the Merseyside Maritime museum, which are both ... read more
