This morning when we got up, we discussed our game plan. We can't check into the bed and breakfast until 2, and trains leave for Brighton every half hour. We are planning on going to go see Big Ben, St. Paul's, and Buckingham Palace before we leave for Brighton. Before Hyde Park, we went to St. Paul's Cathedral. We were going to go inside St. Paul's, but it cost 10 pounds, and we could see pretty much the whole cathedral from where we were standing, so we didn't spend the ten pounds. The second thing we saw in London was Hyde Park, as Kyle wanted to see the Princess Diana memorial. It was a lot farther away then we had thought. We probably walked around the whole park before we found it. Sarah didn't want to ... read more

Today was the day we planned on doing most of our sightseeing in London. We were going to take a Tower of London walking tour, and then take a three hour London walking tour where we saw all the sights. When we arrived for the Tower of London walking tour, we discovered that it was more expensive then we had thought it would be (because of entrace fees), and Sarah decided she didn't want to do the second tour anymore. I was disappointed about that, as I had really been looking forward to the second tour. The Tower of London walking tour was fun, and we didn't have to wait in any lines, though it was more being told the history of the Tower of London than anything else. We didn't really walk anywhere. We did ... read more

Today was the day we left for London. Woody had said there might be a possible bus strike, which did not make me very comfortable about getting to the train station. Dr. Scho and Dr. Salsbury had changed which train we were going to take, as we could not check into the hotel until 2. At 8, we went to breakfast and turned in our keys. I was actually rather sad to be moving out of Angela: I really liked it there. (And based on my room now, it was actually better). When we got to the bus stop, we waited for a good twenty minutes for the bus to show up. It never did. We ended up having the guys at the security lodge call cabs for all of us. Ian, Paul, Katie, and I ... read more

Since we were leaving for London on Tuesday, anything we were not taking with us had to be safely locked in Newman by 5 pm. Since I was going to be spending the day climbing the Liverpool Cathedral with Sam and Adam, I wanted to take my stuff over in the morning. The guys at the security lodge had no idea what I was talking about, and I spent a good amount of time waiting there. I finally had all of my stuff that I wasn't taking locked in the room by 11, and Sarah and I met Sam and Adam at Austin. It ended up being Sam, Woody, Adam, Tarloke, Sarah, and I. Jack would have come, but we didn't give him enough advance notice. It was extremely windy on Monday. It was worse than ... read more

Since we had to move all of our stuff to Newman by Monday at 5, I spent most of the day packing. Around 6:20, I went over to Austin to meet Sam to go to church, but he was running late. I spent a good ten minutes talking to Jimmy while he was watching American Idol, and I also spent some time talking to Lee and Kent. By the time we actually left, it was rather late, so we ended up taking a taxi. Sam's church is sort of like CRU back home: they have the rock band and the powerpoint with the song lyrics, and all of that. They split up after an hour for seminars, though, which was something different than back home. There were actually three seminars: one for beginners, one for intermediates, ... read more

First Day in the Schools Today was our first day in the schools, which I was very excited about. However, we had to be there before 8:30, which meant we had to be at the bus stop before 8. We all agreed to meet outside the security lodge at 7:50, as Katie and Jess were the only two that knew how to get to the schools. We walked to the bus stop and gave each respective person (Katie or Jess, depending on which school we were at) our money for the bus. The bus showed up around 8:05, and Jess and Katie got on first to give the bus driver the money. When they told the bus driver there was nineteen of us, he got pissed off, and said he didn’t know if we could even ... read more

Liverpool Day 3. Once again, I woke up extremely early and was not able to sleep in like we had all planned. Around 11, Katie and I went over to Erin’s to use her shower again. At noon, Katie and I went back to Angela Hall to put our shower stuff away and grab anything else we needed for the day. We stopped at McColl’s because Erin needed cash. After being unsuccessful at McColl’s, Kyle and Erin both paid a visit to the hole in the wall. We then walked back to the security lodge so that we could catch the bus going into the city centre. We didn’t really feel like walking the four and a half miles again. We got off the bus near the Metropolitan Cathedral. When we were walking towards the cathedral, ... read more

Though we all planned last night to leave at 1 so that we could all sleep in and get lunch before we left, I definitely did not sleep in. I woke up at 8 am to my flat mates singing and playing the guitar. Danica and Katie are very good though. Around 11:30, I got a facebook message from Katie (Dill) that she was at the library and would be going to McColls in a little while if I wanted to go with her. While I was walking to the library, I ran into Jessica, who screamed “American”! Apparently she had been wandering around for at least an hour looking for an American, because everyone else was still asleep. She ended up coming with me to the library. At the library, we ran into Dr. Scho, ... read more

Liverpool Day 3 Since we don’t have classes tomorrow, we decided to go out and explore Liverpool tonight. We actually had an amazing time just wandering around Liverpool. We took the double decker bus to get to the city centre because it was free, though it dropped us off a long way from the city centre. We first stopped at a grocery type store to buy all the toiletries that people needed. I bought body wash and some cow biscuits. The wrapper looked really cool, and I wanted to try them. At the shop, I also got the first souvenir of the trip for my mom. I’m not going to say what it is because she reads this, and I want it to be a surprise. After the shop, Jessica, Alicia, Sarah, and some other people ... read more

Today is our first official day in Liverpool. We had a guest lecturer at 10 who talked to us about the British education program, and that was fun. After that, Katie, Heather, Erin, Sarah, and I decided to walk to the chemist. While there, we visited the post office, McColl's, and some other random places before walking back to campus. Katie and I tried to show the girls our secret garden, but it was locked today. :( So instead, we decided to go take a tour of the laundrette. When we left the laundrette, we ran into Dr. Scho and Dr. Salsbury, who decided they wanted a picture of us in front of the laundrette. We ended up asking this random Ball State student who was standing outside the laundrette if he wanted to take a ... read more
