I am currently trying to find something to do on my last day in St. Albans. This small town is great, offers a lot of tourist attractions, and the whole nine yards - unfortunately I've unable to find a suitable pub :( I will write an entry once I get to Linkoping, Sweden. I just wanted to let everyone know how much of a thrill the Kubrick painting course really was. We spent Saturday and Sunday painting from 10am till 5pm. I'll tell you right now, painting is a complicated and energy consuming art form. I was completely tired after the day was over (the jet lag didn't help either), but once I got to my room around 6pm in St. Albans, I went straight to bed. I think I'm all set for Sweden now - ... read more

If you´ve been enjoying the blog up to this point, then thank you for your attention and interest. This being the final blog, we hope not to let you down. However, this is a little personal, and although we have no new destinations to offer you, we wanted the chance to reflect on this final and most important one - home. What it is to have a home is something we have learnt to appreciate this year; ever-moving as we have been. Having family and close friends - those who understand you, and love you for being you; that is so important, and we have missed it. We've missed their easy conversation, their warmth and their energy. What else have we missed? Well, bread, cheese and milk, as we know and love them. Our sofa we ... read more

London to Brighton Well the first major test! London to Brighton. Got up in the middle of the night as Network Rail had continued their single-handed attempt to cut London off from the rest of the country and the only way I could get in was to either add another 15 miles to the journey or cycle across and get a train to Kings Cross. I obviously chose the latter course and eventually met up with Gareth at Hyde Park Corner at 0915. After a brief chat about the route we opted for the most direct we could think of which was basically the A217 and A23; not wildly exciting but reasonably straight. What we didn't realise at that point was that it might be straight but it was pretty much up. We whizzed through the ... read more

Well, just to finish off our blog in style, we thought we'd let you know how our first few weeks back home have panned out...... Av managed to get himself employed as an electrician within a couple of weeks of being home and is thoroughly enjoying his new career. HMRC R.I.P!! Suzz has found herself a Finance Managers position with a small, recently established company much closer to home and has been there for 4 weeks now. Our trip already feels like a distant memory as we've settled back in to life in the UK like we'd never been away. Finally, on a trip to the town of Hitchin a few weekends ago, there was a World Music Festival on and who should be head-lining but the Samba band, MonoBloco, who we'd originally seen back when ... read more

F**K! We're actually really doing it!!! After a manic day of packing, moving out of our house, and panic setting in, we've managed to fit in a night/morning combining a number of drinks, front row seats watching Welwyn Garden City's finest slug it out in the middle of The Cork, and some emotional goodbyes to friends I'm really going to miss. I'm finally going to bed now at 6am, slightly the worse for wear, but I'll be up bright and early at 8 in the morning(!) for a few hours of the delayed English summertime before we depart for Heathrow. I'm not sure that this is the best preparation for a 32 hour journey to the other side of the world.... read more

Hi everyone We've decided to stop talking about the weather (aka rain) because it never changes!! Canterbury was a very interesting and picturesque town. We stayed at a hotel called Fusion in the Paris room. It's an old coaching inn that had been modernised with taste. You know those places with small crooked staircases, uneven walls and black wooden beams that tall people are guaranteed to hit there head on! We had a French themed room and the bathroom was superb. We seem to be having a run of great luck with bathrooms! This was more attractive than the last one....it had a claw foot bath just like you see in old French movies! The town was full of narrow cobblestone streets, funny little crooked pubs and interesting shops. A most pleasant way to spend an ... read more

Right. I am home. This will be very very brief. This is not a "travel"blog, it is a "home"blog. San Francisco was great fun. Pirates, Golden Gate, Chowder, Bikes, Alcatraz, Trams; standard but awesome fun. Just wanted to say I hope you all (well some, not bothered really) enjoyed reading/deleting my blogs. I liked writing them. My photos (about 2000) are currently being edited to Best Of. When that's done I will do Best Of Best Of. This is likely to be a more managable size to show people. I will then show you them when I see you. I know...you literally can't wait. Now. The main point of this homeblog is to tell you a short story about a frisbee. Alex and I were given a frisbee before we left the UK. This frisbee travelled ... read more

I am finally here, and I am so excited. I got into London about an hour late, and then it was an hour and a half to train and metro in to Izzy's house. By the way, I highly recommend Virgin Atlantic! It's brilliant, very nice. Anyway, nothing terribly exciting has happened (well to write about) I already feel at home here, it's perfect. I am going to go get over my jet lag, but tomorrow should be exciting! CHEERS!... read more

We attended Church and enjoyed the talks. We asked a man sitting in front of us how to dail long distance to the US and how ATMs work here as we were having problems in both areas. He explained about using 001 for a country code (not just 1) when calling the US and said there was a glitch with a VISA system here causing ATM problems for a couple of days. He also offered to change some cash for us since he has a daughter at BYU who can use US currency. He and his wife invited us to their home to use the internet so we could email home. It was wonderful to meet them and be in their home. They are coming over to Utah later this year, so perhaps we can return ... read more
