Just a little update to say that I have booked my ticket to go and I am leaving on 1st September to go to Bangkok where I will be making my way to Pattaya to start my diving instructor training. I am fairly nervous but very excited all the same I never thought back when this idea started that I would see this day becoming a reality but it is and I am wondering what the future holds for me. In the end I have plumped for a year open ticket with a flight included to go to Sydney and then directly back to London with Qantas Airlines. I guess the next diary I write will be from Thailand.............All the best everyone and for those I won't see before I go then wish me luck and ... read more

Train to Winchester Great to see Robyn again A quaint little town. I’ve been so lazy these past few days. Perhaps it is because I go to bed after midnight these days and then roll out of bed around 8:30/9:00. Today was no exception! But I did know I had to be out of the door sooner rather than later because I wanted to catch a morning train to Winchester. I was on the net last night and there really isn’t all that much to do there. I think that was one of the reasons for my lack of motivation to rush out and get an earlier train. I did know that it’s about 1 hour to Winchester by train and I definitely had to be there before 2:30PM. I must have left the house about ... read more

Well its been a fun few weeks since my last update…I move out of my house this Sunday 24th July 2005 I guess this is where it all starts. First Stop Magaluf with Simon, Craig, Rob going for a week of relaxation, meditating and drinking green tea all week. (Honest) The last few weeks has been a bit of a stressful time boxing up or selling material items you have worked so hard to accumulate is emotional and surprising as it becomes more and more obvious that you do not need that much junk and possessions to actually survive and live. I think things may be easier than I thought to move out as I have been doing it gradually so it is not such a cold sharp shock to the system. I was recently in ... read more

Well my diary of adventures is pretty stale at the moment so I thought I would take this oppurtunity to write a little entry to ease my mind. I am hopefully exchanging on Wednesday 6th July and this could be the day my plans start turning into a reality and not just a thought or pipe dream. I was at the Trafalgar 200 celebrations with some friends the other night and I bumped into a couple people I had not seen in a while told them my plans etc and they loved it. You either know two type of people those that think you are nuts selling it all up and travelling or those that love your sense of adventure and the lust and dream for something more life satisfying than the office 9 to 5 ... read more

How exciting, we eventually have a leaving date, appropriately the 4th July, (our independence day) I can’t believe it has taken us 9 weeks to get everything sorted out and organised. It is not an instant business this packing up your life. However thanks to all our friends we have had a great time. Many thanks; you have lived the highs & lows with us! After many late night hours on the internet & phone (Graeme not me) we have found our new home. It is to be delivered from the factory this week and we will be introduced to it on the 7th. The service from “Tim” in the US has been exceptional, as well as the usual vehicle sale stuff, answering many questions and changes of mind, it has extended to booking our hotel ... read more

Well reality, excitement and fear are slowly kicking in as I have accepted a offer on my house. I am in fear of starting too many plans in earnest as they could always pull out so I hope to exchange contracts and set a date so I still have a base to conduct all the admin I need to do to get going. My biggest outlay will be the course fees and I don't want to pay them If the house does not sell as it is non refundable. I have visa's to sort out kit to buy to travel with shed loads of things to sell here or move into storage somewhere don't know where yet though? Well I am gonna crack on with working earn some more money and wait for this rollercoaster to ... read more

Well, we have talked about it for years. Now at last we have taken the plunge. Call it "adult gap year", career break or mid life crisis, but the house is sold, possessions in store, sold, on loan, given or thrown away, many parties had and our old life on hold. Now we are making final preparations to head to the US to purchase our new home (a 38ft motor home) to travel North, Central and Southern America or wherever the road takes us. Watch this space... read more

How do I start my diary I wonder, I guess a few people will read this and wonder why I decided to up sticks and leave so I better offer a background. PS: If you are offended by bad english and grammar stop here and click back. I have worked since leaving school constantly, part time for 2 years I admit but after getting fed up with college...I was sucked into the world of getting paid and how good it was or so it seems. I have travelled on holiday alot and I have been lucky....South of France, New York, Malaysia and most recently Cancun which was one of the most memorable holidays of my life and it always will be for reasons which will no doubt unfold later on in my diary. I have got ... read more

Hi Did not get anywhere near a computer in the past 48 hours..busy multitasking like all of you I suppose. I travelled yesterday from East London to Southampton by train. Travelling a 9 am on a Saturday morning is not easy. With few commuters aroound you you are constantly being reminded that you are the one working and all others are probably still in bed. The weekend brings out all types of people onto the public transport. Very typically the middle class parents who want to take their 7 year old for a London trip. They all look alike. The parents in jeans and casual sweaters or fleece jackets, mum carrying a rucksacr full of all "keep it, just in case" items as well as a water bottle, dad with a leaflet for some museum or ... read more
