So here is the first entry in the travel blog! A handy opportunity to check that it all works before we go off travelling. Hopefully our business card directed you here without any problems! If you were amoungst the social elite who came down to party then we'd like to thank you for making it such a wicked night. We think we had a good time; the memories are a little hazy but the photos tell a pretty clear story! We have about 150 pictures from the night but we have tried to pick the ones that best show the progression from civilised drinking to drunken mess on here and have set up a photo gallery to put on all the others at snapfish.co.uk. We'll need to invite you to view the album so just send ... read more

Elizabeth II, Her Majesty the Queen of England, was actually born in April. But as they say over here, the weather's better in June! It was certainly hot on Saturday, which was the official day for a huge parade from Buckingham Palace along the Mall to the Horse Guards Parade for Trooping the Colour, and a parade back again, followed by a flyover and a Royal Gun Salute. The whole thing was pretty impressive, and being there was overwhelming. The parade started just after ten, but the crowds were in place well before then. The whole square in front of the Palace was cordoned off to traffic (on an ordinary morning the Victoria Memorial is actually a roundabout in the middle of three lanes of bustling, hooting traffic, the exception being half an hour every morning ... read more

There's a gym in the hotel!!!!!! I was so stoked that I woke up all kinds of early to work out. However the gym is all kinds of sad. But you know what makes up for it? LONDON We went on a tour of London as a whole group. It was great in a super touristy way. We stopped at the tower of London to wander around and Ryan, Taylor, Michelle, Ben & I wandered around the docks. We saw the most ornate Starbucks ever which was really funny and depressing all at once. After the tower we were suppost to head back to the hotel but we got the guide to drop us off at big ben. Mary, Taylor, Ben, Michelle, Liz, Blake, & I walked to Buckingham palace for the queen's birthday. The festivities ... read more

Just a quick entry this time letting you all know that I had a fantastic weekend in London's Hyde Park at the Foo Fighters concert. It was estimated that there was around 83000 people there!! Crazy! It was great, and the support acts were Juliette Lewis and the Licks (can't believe I have seen her in real life!), AVA (guy from Blink182's new band), Queens of the Stone Age and Motorhead. We spent the weekend in London and on the Sunday following the concert had some fun in Leicester Square at the West End Live expo that was on. They had a stage set up for performers from various west end stage shows to perform and also tents with various activities for children like me, such as face painting, finger puppet making, creating animation, magic tricks ... read more

A good time in London - so limited on time so only chance to do anything touristy was Tower of London and Picadilly Circus. Night life looked great, and Quig had his trusty guidebook and led us to some fine pubs. highlight was watching the England soccer game in an English pub on the West End. Place went berzerk - every time England scored I got completely covered in thrown beer. After the game the bar looked like Beriut... That was Thursday. Friday Joe met us and the 4 of us went exploring. The tube was a bit dirty, but fast and on time. Notting Hill was an amazing neighborhood - looks like so much fun to live there. Jen was a perfect host and even though she didnt feel well. she was a trooper and ... read more

It was really sad to say goodbye to tropical Port Douglas but we were not disappointed leaving all the damn mosquitos behind. They were quite brutal. We spent our last day or so around town, watching the World Cup (yeah Soccaroos, c'mon USA!) and actually playing a lot of tennis. We both vow to start playing regularly as while we are quite the spectacle to watch, we had a lot of fun in the process. Australians are going crazy over their victory over Japan, acting as if they will not be destroyed in their second game against Brazil. Ben teases them incessently, while I am a bit more understanding, as they haven't been in the World Cup in 32 years. Tuesday morning, we drove down to Cairns along the scenic Captain Cook Highway that follows the ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236Packed up this morning and said good-bye to Edinburgh- for now. I knew that today was not going to be fun and I was right. When booking my tour, for an extra $20 I bought an Edinburgh mini-break- 3 nights accommodation and bus to London, a bargain? The bus left at 10am and scheduled to arrive at 8pm. What a slow ride!! The air conditioner wasn't working well and we were having trouble breathing. It was hot and stuffy and we were all sweating. A few hours later after many complaints the driver took us to a depo and we were able to change buses- what a relief! Although it was still a yucky trip.I slept for most of the trip and woke up to a sore neck and my mouth open- nice look. ... read more

As London is basically the only cheap flight destination from Bremen, I decided that a visit to London was a must. Seeing that a return flight from Bremen to London Luton was only €55 with EasyJet, Daniel, Michaella and I quickly booked the flights for a weekend trip...little did we realise the cost of accommodation and transfers to London! We left a wet and cold Bremen on Friday night and were lucky enough to have hot weather the whole time we were in London. I have heard that the weather in London is generally terrible, but that was most definitely not true for this weekend. Apart from seeing one of the world’s most famous city’s, being in London was great because it restored a sense of normality. I was excited to spend time in a newsagent ... read more
