Even flashbacken naar juni! Mijn laatste weken in Miami waren enorm emotioneel.

Hello everyone. When we left the amazing Oxford, then went to Stratford on Avon to see AnneHathaway's Cottage. We then travelled to a place called Shifnal and stayed with Roger's relies. It is a lovely town and we had a great time there, it is just above Birmingham. We went with Keith & Cat and the kids to the first iron bridge ever built in the world and the town is called....wait for it....IronBridge. We had lunch by the River Severn and it was so movieish. We managed to see Uncle John and although he looked frail his memory of the old times was really good so he and Roger reminisced the afternoons away With Keith. Keith & Cat treated us to some lovely home cooked meals and great hospitality, it was very hard to say ... read more

Hello from the motherland. The weather is just like our winter in Oz, over cast, a bit wet and quite cool..........where is the northern summer for goodness sakes? We are having a great time with Roger's cousin Chris and his wife Liz in Twickenham. We have been made to feel very welcome and very much at home and Liz is an amazing cook. It is not far out of London and it is in such a pretty place. They managed to get the relies together on Sunday and we had a great time meeting everyone that Roger had not seen for nearly 40 years. Each day we get up and catch the train into the centre of London. We have been to St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Churchills Bunker, St Martins in the field and had ... read more

We decided to explore the garden and parkland in Osterley on 5 May, Bank Holiday. On arrival at Osterley, we had a picnic lunch on the lawn field in front of the house. There were many people having lunch, resting, and playing football. Unlike the first Bank Holiday last year, there wasn't an event which distracted from the beauty of the garden. After showing our National Trust cards, we followed the path. There were several old trees and conifers on the site. Their branches were stretching at the very low position as though they were creeping on the ground. There were several new borders made, there were a number of multi-coloured tulips, dark coloured tulips, blue flowers, i.e. forget me not, and some herbal plants thriving on the borders. The former kitchen garden was opened. We ... read more

Hello, So, the day before I go off on my Antipodean Adventure, and spending it with a couple of accommodating friends in sunny Twickenham (that's less sarcastic than some might assume, it actually is sunny right now). This entry really is just to check out whether I can get this thing to work. Maybe everyone will be interested in my tales of last minute shopping in Richmond (Swiss Army knife, sunglasses and a card to save games on my new DS lite), or my dismay at not finding a KFC there (it must just be too posh an area). Or maybe they won't. Bill Bryson this ain't. But anyway, as writers block descends with unnerving speed, I'll just make some comment about how lucky I am that Twickers really is good and convenient for Heathrow airport, ... read more

England: 9th - 16th August 2009 Our trip to England started, as previously mentioned, with a fabulous garden party to celebrate Rami and Jen Seth´s 40th anniversary.  We learned two things that day: rain on your wedding day IS lucky, and once a party animal, always a party animal. Leaving Nottingham, we headed west to the Peak District based on a recommendation from Dee & Derek who raved about Alstonefield Manor, a B&B run by Jo and Robert.  We couldn´t pass up such a glowing recommendation, so we checked in.  The sun was blazing away when we arrived, and after tea, scones, and fresh strawberry jam, Jo recommended that we set off immediately to enjoy the countryside, English weather being predictably unpredictable.  What we found as we walked was a gentle, rolling countryside dotted with small ... read more

Well, my boys list of things to do seems to get a little smaller and then increase with the things I’d forgotten to add to the list in the first place. It certainly feels like two steps forward and one back. I’ve got loads to do to prepare the pickup for the outback and this morning, whilst working on the water tank installation couriers arrived with a fancy car battery made using the latest technology and with a fancy acronym (AGM); don’t know quite what it means but I’m sure I’m buying into the best technology which all men must understand can only be a good thing… also received a roof vent which was fitted in double quick time to the pickup canopy (to help keep temperatures down in the back of the pickup when in ... read more

T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse..... Well that's not strictly true...both dogs are snoring and Mr Jingles the field mouse has once again decided to take up residence under the fridge for Christmas! Yes you guess it, its Christmas eve....well the early hours of Christmas day now, and i am home safely. We finally took off in the early hours of Tuesday morning and i arrived at Heathrow yesterday morning. with only 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours and a cold from hell, i looked like someone had chewed my nose off, and didn’t make the glorious entrance home i had planned! Mum came to meet me at Heathrow, which was wonderful, and i arrived back a Hampton to an over excited ... read more

First day out in London, baby! Woohooooo A bit cloudy but hot for sure! We had to take the train back into central London since London is sooo big and Lara’s b/f (Andy) lives in an area similar to our suburbs of a big city called Twickenham next to the big football rugby union and stadium…And then we went back on the tube (subway) to who knows where, I just follow and try to stick as close as possible to Mel and Lara since they buzzzz through the crowds. The tube felt a tad miserable due to the huge amounts of people therefore breathing in tight spaces..blahhhh but all worth the experience! Weee We ventured through some parks, saw the queen’s palace/London eye/Westminster abbey/Big Ben, and the changing of the guards parade. Mel and I grabbed ... read more
