Hello everyone. When we left the amazing Oxford, then went to Stratford on Avon to see AnneHathaway's Cottage. We then travelled to a place called Shifnal and stayed with Roger's relies. It is a lovely town and we had a great time there, it is just above Birmingham. We went with Keith & Cat and the kids to the first iron bridge ever built in the world and the town is called....wait for it....IronBridge. We had lunch by the River Severn and it was so movieish. We managed to see Uncle John and although he looked frail his memory of the old times was really good so he and Roger reminisced the afternoons away With Keith. Keith & Cat treated us to some lovely home cooked meals and great hospitality, it was very hard to say goodbye. We then travelled on to Ilkeston where the Pages left from there for Australia. Roger found his old school, the house where they lived and the Salvation Army and from there we went to Ruddington (just south of Nottingham ) to see Gary & Niki Rucci and spent a lovely couple of hours with them. We arrived back to Chris & Liz's and went out to dinner to a super little Italian Restaurant in Twickenham. This place of Twickenham is full of surprises with little back streets, beautiful restaurants all running right by the Thames. Saturday night we had a picnic in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace prior to going to a concert of Cliff Richard's in the Palace Grounds. We walked in Henry 8th's footsteps...amazing really. Sunday Chris & Liz (the ultimate hosts) took us to Kent to her sister's place and we had lunch right by the village green and had roast beef & Yorkshire pudding, it was everything you can imagine about England. Her sister and brother in law had open garden day in their village and it was so quaint and oh so English. We so enjoyed their company and hospitality. We then went to Dover and toured around then back home to Twickenham. That night we went to a charity concert in the Dominion Theatre in the west end of London with all the proceeds going to Help the Heroes. This is for all the soldiers who have been wounded and have had life changing injuries. It was a compilation of all the stage shows being shown in the west end plus the military band, the marine drummers and soldiers in their busbys doing the fan fare. It was so wonderful I cannot explain it really. Today we have been into Staines in Middlesex a place where Roger was a child and we met some people that still live next door to his grandparents place..totally amazing. We spent a good hour with this elderly couple and they remembered so much about his parents too. We then went to the cemetery where Roger's brother, Andrew is buried and left some flowers there. Shed a few tears I'm afraid but they were justified. Off to Windsor tomorrow then Pari, Scotland then Ireland so will blog sometime after we have been to these places. Love to all. Roger & Jacqui
