Just wanted to let everyone know that we arrived in London and are all very tired. We had a long day and all are glad that we are finally checked into our hotel. We arrived in London around 8:45 AM and got thru customs with no issues... except that the customs officer wanted to know how much money the Deppes were bringing into the country. Didn't ask either Poysee or myself. We must not look like we would be carrying lots of $$$$! We hopped into a cab and 70 pounds later and a minor wedding dress rehearsal parade (full of horses, carriages with stand in queen and princess, and gun brigade)after, we arrived at our hotel. Stored our bags and we were on our way.... The tube station is about a 3 minute walk away, ... read more

A right lovely stay, it was. I waved bye-bye to Ireland from the ferry to Holyhead at around 9am, and took a couple of trains to London. It was dark when I arrived, but it wasn't hard to find the Palmers Lodge hostel. It used to be a factory making the (apparently) famous Huntley and Palmers biscuits. It was a cool little place, with a nice crowd and it's own bar and restaurant (5 pound for every meal). The city of London was great too; everything is in walking distance. It was a little overcast, but fairly warm, so I headed out on foot on the morning of the first. I walked down to Trafalgar square, and checked out Nelson's column and the big ship in a bottle they have there, then walked through Admiralty Arch ... read more

Our competitive teams are broken up and work has begun. I am on team A so our group was the first to meet with our designer at Hasbro. Each group is assigned a designer to help guide us with the ideas we come up with. They are like a sound board within the company so we can see if there might be any legs on our ideas. Our designers name is Carolyn. She was a lot of fun to work with in our session. We learned a great deal of information that will be beneficial while we are working on our project. We had to train back into work at Regent’s College. Once we got back we hit the ground running and started working on our project and discussing ideas. At 5 pm I was ready ... read more

...and the charge begins. Monday we spent the whole day at Hasbro learning about the company and the charge. The Hasbro office is so fun and laid back. When you first walk in there is a game display of all the Hasbro games (Sorry, Clue, Pictureka…). We were fed coffee/teas and crackers/cookies when we first got there. Then we got to learn all about the company and more in-depth information on our target market. Then we had an extravagant lunch with sandwiches, potato fries, side dishes, drinks and cookies. As a Hirvela this was just great, taking full advantage of any free food. After lunch we got to walk around the office and see all of the areas. Everything was so laid back - everyone was in casual outfits and posted in their “creative element.” There ... read more

Well, our additional kms that we had planned to walk on our last night in Paris, were doubled at least, as we took the wrong turn out of the underground station and ended up miles away from where we had intended to go! Well, the Arc de Triomphe was standing prominently at the end so one could have been forgiven for thinking they were heading towards the Champs Elysees, when in actual fact we were heading the opposite way! (So, the Arc looks the same from both sides!!!!! How were we to know! And you know how utterly hopeless I am with direction!!!) Anyway, we certainly worked up and appetite and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Chez Clements on the Champs Elysees. It was a beautiful Friday night, with heaps of people about, but unfortunately, due ... read more

I love spring and I love these sunny days we've had lately, they really help me keep my spirits up and brighten my days!! I look forward to going out and having long walks, discovering London. Today I went with my sister to the Zoological Society of London, this is the officially pompous name of the London Zoo, close to Regent's Park. It is enormous and beautiful and we spent roughly 4 hours there, but in order to see everything you must allow yourself an entire day!! Took about 200 pics, out of which I will select the best ones to post. The lion did a very bad impression, lazy, lazy, lazy, the tiger as well, many species of monkeys, lots of fish and reptiles . The zoo also hosts bears, camels, tall zebras, and many ... read more
