B.o.B.
The man of the hour Our competitive teams are broken up and work has begun. I am on team A so our group was the first to meet with our designer at Hasbro. Each group is assigned a designer to help guide us with the ideas we come up with. They are like a sound board within the company so we can see if there might be any legs on our ideas. Our designers name is Carolyn. She was a lot of fun to work with in our session. We learned a great deal of information that will be beneficial while we are working on our project. We had to train back into work at Regent’s College. Once we got back we hit the ground running and started working on our project and discussing ideas. At 5 pm I was ready to take off right away. We had a big night ahead of us. There was a group of 10 of us who had tickets for the London vs. Mexico football (soccer) match at Wembley Stadium. Jerseys on, we were ready to go. We had to catch the tube four stops away, but the stops were very far apart. The tube was packed with game goers

The soccer stadium and a few vey unlucky work men going home. There were no seats available, so we had to pack like sardines standing in the middle section. There wasn’t much to hold onto so it was a test to hold your balance the best when the tube was starting and stopping. When we got off the Wembley stop there were just masses of people headed towards the game. There was such a fun atmosphere of people getting ready for the game and showing their England pride. This was probably the first and last time (especially with the World Cup match coming up) that we were all cheering for team England. I mean there was no reason to start fights and get beaten up for being all team USA - this was supposed to just be a “friendly” match. When you walked into the stadium it was overwhelmingly energetic and people were ready for the game. We all got a free t-shirt (or dress more like it) and the stadium made an England flag with the t-shirt colors. One thing I found very interesting is that as they brought out the England and Mexico flag to the field they were unrolled on

We left with a little bit of time left to “try” and beat the crowds, but as we were leaving we were just a few in a sea of people leaving the stadium as well. Our group got split up going through the tube station so a guy Curtis and I were on one side and ended up catching the first train back and getting home first. Once everyone else got back we hung out for a little bit and then all headed to bed to get ready for work the next day. Tuesday and Wednesday brought intense days of work. We started early and stayed late. The idea wheel has been spinning and we are continuously trying to come up with more ideas and improve on those we have. We get to points where we will really be interested in an idea and then find the faults or another game that is similar enough we have to continue making changes. It is fun trying to come up with games and

being goofy waiting for the game reinventing games, it is very creative work. During the weekdays it is very much work. Though it is fun work. We are able to look at games, test them out and work on coming up with more ideas. There are times when we all just hit a mental block and have to take a few steps back. Normally this program is spread out over the 16 week semester and is still a very time intensive class then - so to have this all crammed in six weeks and to have two charges, we defiantly have enough to keep us busy all day. My team consists of nine other members and we are all getting along and working together really well. I knew a few of the kids from my marketing classes at school and then our graphic design ‘team’ I met here. We have one marketing director, one research director and one design director on our team who help lead the team in those areas. Now that we are spending so much time together during the day we also are seeing more of each other around the flats as we are running around trying to get our homework assignments done
and to run ideas off each other. Tuesday I was able to do my gym training that is necessary to use the equipment at the college. It seemed to be a wee bit of a joke though. I got there and we had to do three repetitions on each weight machine and then we were granted access into the gym. Thursday was another big day with the B.o.B. concert at King’s College. Almost all 31 of the Highwire students went - there were around 25 of us there. We all went over on the tube together and found our way to the line to get in. Tickets were only 12 pounds which you just can’t beat. We had to wait in line for a little bit before they started letting people in. After we got in they just had the radio playing as the ‘opening act’ so we all hung out and anxiously awaited B.o.B. to come on stage. I had gone down to the café/pub two floors down with a few girls to meet some people for a few minutes. We decided B.o.B. was about to start so we needed to head back up. As we got to the

Teams being presented elevator a group of people started getting off and realized this wasn’t the right floor so we just scooted into the elevator with them. Seconds into it we realized we were in the elevator with B.o.B. This was the greatest moment - now if we would have just known EXACTLY what he looked like. We were all so excited with B.o.B. it just took us a second of them talking to realize that is who we were with. Along with B.o.B. we met the drummer and the pianist. We had to shuffle back into the crowd after snapping a quick picture with the drummer. The concert was a lot of fun. It was a really small venue so we were all really close-up to him and could sing along. After the concert we had to tube it back to the flats and get ready for an early morning off to Scotland.
