December 6 - Heathrow to College Station , Texas - It was a long and very boring flight from Heathrow to Ft Worth where I changed planes. But I finally made it home and my brother picked me up at the airport. So that is another trip done for this year. I actually looked at it and was suprised to realize that I have spent 5 months out of this year in Europe. First a 6 week trip in Ireland. Then an 8 week trip in Ireland and England. Then another 6 week trip in Ireland, England, France, Rome, Athens, and Santorini, Greece. So that totals 20 weeks or 5 months. I think I am done with Europe till April for now.... read more

December 5 – London Heathrow airport – The flight from Greece to England on British Airways was a pleasant one as I had a young lady sitting next to me who immensely enjoyed listening to my stories of all my adventures. It made the time pass very quickly and the next thing I knew we were arriving in London. I was really surprised as I had expected the plane (which was a Boeing 767-200) to pull up to the airport and we would walk off on a covered ramp. But instead we were unloaded onto some buses and got a tour of the airport construction sites before being delivered to Terminal 5. Since I had a 12 hr and 40 minute connection, my flight wasn’t till morning at 9:45, I had intended to find a reasonably ... read more

October 27 – Saturday – Ballinasloe to London – 8:30 - I got up early this morning about 06:30 and went downstairs and drank some tea while checking on my flight. I went to the British Airways online check-in and checked in on my flight. I didn’t like the seat I was assigned to as it was a window seat and I changed it to an aisle seat. Frankly being able to get out of my seat and to a bathroom without having to climb over others is more important to me than being able to look out the window. The flight shows to be only an hour and 20 minutes so that isn’t too bad. Brian got up about 8AM and lit the fire in the stove which goes out every night. He then started ... read more

On Saturday September 29thI learnt something new about myself. I may need anger management classes, no actually scrap that, I wouldn’t need anger management classes if people could learn some manners and stop being rude bas***ds. After waking up at 1:30am to make our way to the airport and after working for what felt like every day for the past 2 weeks I was exhausted and a tired Chris is a grumpy Chris. We got to the airport way before our flight and tried to check in ourselves but our passports were not registering on the self service scanners. So we had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes until we could check in. By the time we got up off the sofas we had found to sit on there was a queue, we began walking ... read more

T minus 0. D-day. The 'D' standing for departure day. How do we know that?? Because it's absolutely pissing down!! It wouldn't be the same without a spot of rain as we are leaving. This was quite the downpour. We are off through our Panama Canal cruise on the Island Princess. Today we fly down to Heathrow in the afternoon, staying at a Travel Lodge. Tomorrow we fly to San Francisco where we will spend 3 nights before joining the ship for 15 nights R & B (Relaxation and Blogging!!!) Sometimes (very, very few though), we travel to see family outside of the locations they live in. So this is one of the few exceptions. My brother plays cricket in England for half the year so we figured we would make a trip out of it - see him and the queen at the same time. The visa was a pain, but we did get it 5 days before we were hoping to go so we bought the tickets and we were on our way. Just getting on the plane was a whole new adventure in itself as we were able to check in 35 minutes before the scheduled departure time (did not know that was possible). Travelling east has become a favorite of ours - we catch a late flight out of JFK/Newark and we ... read more

Even though I did get to lie down I just could not sleep. In fact, I didn’t sleep the entire trip. I worked it out and was awake for 53 hours on 2 and a half hours sleep. But surprisingly last night after getting off the plane I felt ok. Now I feel like crap, but last night I was pretty good. I’ve been travelling constantly for 38 hours, and still have another 7 hours to go. But it’s all an adventure. After getting off the plane I was told a taxi to my airport hotel would be cheapest 35 pound. Looking back now I probably should of just spent the money, but I did get to go on a little adventure at 10pm on a cool Sunday evening. I walked with my 30kg suitcase to ... read more

So far so good. Slight hiccups coming from exhaustion and being overheated but nothing major. Right now I am sitting on my laptop in the Dubai departure lounge waiting to board my London flight. It is actually the last thing I feel like doing right now. That being said, Emirates have been fantastic. The food was excellent and surprisingly frequent. They brought me hot towels. I am still unsure of the reason for them, but they brought them. Each seat had its own touch TV screen with your choice of hundreds of games, recent and classic films and TV shows. It was really the little things. Like having the ceiling of the plane light up like the stars when it was sleep time. Not to mention the fact that I was lucky enough to board a ... read more

Well, we all made it to Heathrow. 6 adults and 24 bags! What a site we must have been at the airport when we left. We are all a little unsure of what day it is, what time it is or what continent we are on, but we are all loving it! Next stop: Entebbe, Uganda!!!!!!... read more
