after exactly a week I return to my ancestral home - or at least, where I was stuck between aged 9 and 19 years... Shaving my head in a moment of realisation last Tuesday night caused quite a stir among my firends and relatives - even our neighbour informed my parents in Switzerland, who then forwarded an e-mailed photo (of my shaven bonce) from my Grandparents in Avening back to our neighbour by the next day! HOw useful is modern tech, hey?! Stopping to see my brother in Avening was a good place to break my journey South, but I still had a long way to go to the Big Green Gathering, and was finding it impossible to buy a full ticket at suc h late notice - and in the end I just rode to ... read more

Hello faithful readers, Yes, I know it's been a while since our last update...this is due to a few things. Mainly, my laziness. Also, while we were in Bangalore, we really didn't do much of anything. Here's a brief summary: -A typical day for us went like this: wake up, eat, bathe, eat, Oprah, sleep, tea, t.v./reading, eat, sleep. These "activities" were interspersed with shopping, visiting relatives, and more eating. How will we ever readjust to normal life? -We took a daytrip to Mysore to see the palace and whatnot. Hindu temples = frantic and competitive. Really nice and blingy, though. And, you know, sacred and things. We each got blessed with turmeric by some wise-looking old man, and I thought he was really sweet, but then he made us pay him ten rupees. We also ... read more

Hey everyone- I don't know where to start - over a month of frenetic touring and action - you'll probably need a map of the Uk in front of you just to take in all that I'm telling you here... I went to Swansea on the megabus the weekend of Glastonbury - guessing that a lot of my firends would be stuck there instead - and they were! A magical weekend, dancing in the Monkey, catching up with folk I'd lost touch with, and having Cef's leaving party - boy was it good!!! Only a day to clean the house - Monday, and by Tuesday I'd shifted all my stuff to my new home, 9 Southampton Street, and packed all that I could carry onto my scooter, as I headed off to Reading. (Amazingly - for ... read more

Ocean Village - Perfect for people that 'don't do cruises' - that’s their claim. On 15 March 2005 my wife and I set off for a flight to Barbados and then on to board Ocean Village - I had heard much about the ship and its informal style of cruising. Prior to this trip we had only cruised on ships that had formal evenings, and that is not a lot of fun in the heat of the Caribbean. So, we were happy to be going on a ‘laid back’ Cruise Holiday. We travelled up to Birmingham and stayed with one of our two sons, who then took us to Birmingham International next morning. The flight was some 9 hours or so, with strong headwinds and a bit of turbulence, but the journey passed relatively quickly. Then ... read more

I flew into Birmingham, UK, home to Black Sabbath and Judas Priest but, I was seeking a different kind of British heavy metal. Rain streaked the jet’s window as we came in for a landing. Never a good omen. I hopped on to an east bound train to Nottingham to reunite with my Triumph Thruxton. Together, we set off towards Land’s End at the furthest tip of Cornwall. It was 3 P.M. when I was finally loaded up and ready to go. I was hoping to get some miles in before dark. I fired up the Triumph and headed southwest. I chose a road built by the Romans now named Fosse Way. As were most Roman roads, this one was built straight and to the southwest. Just the direction I wanted to go. While it looks ... read more

Chipping Campden is one of the loveliest small towns in the Cotswolds and a gilded masterpiece of limestone and craftmanship. A feature of its beautiful High Street is the 17th century Market Hall. The main street curves in a shallow arc lined with a succession of ancient houses each with it's own distinctive embellishments. As the name suggests (Chipping means market) Chipping Campden was one of the most important of the medieval wool towns and famous throughout Europe. This legacy of fame and prosperity is everything that give the town it's character. Campden is quite possible an old Saxon term that means fields, which must have been an encouraging sign for the local sheep that once dominated the area. ... read more
