6th and 7th November 2005 Brighton, England. The Morning... er, Afternoon... After Awakening well after seven for the first time in many, many months (ah, the luxury!), it was a little worrying to discover that the skies had started to drizzle. But, knowing the capriciousness of English weather, I washed as per usual - it should be mentioned that despite the lack of a shower, I have been keeping clean - and set off for a visit to the Brighton Pavillion. In the 1780's the Prince Regent, under advice from his doctor, visited Brighton to 'take the waters' of the healing hot-springs there, a fashionable undertaking of the English Gentry at the time. He apparently became enamoured of the area, and decided to build a residence there. The result is the Royal Pavillion, the height of ... read more

5th November 2005 - MY BIRTHDAY! Brighton, England. The view over the ocean upon awakening this morning was absolutely fantastic, and it was upon that happy note that the rest of the day unfolded. Mum phoned - twice - to wish me a happy birthday, and on an impulse I stopped at a supermarket to buy some silly birthday masks and such, as well as the necessary fireworks, which in this country is sold in just about every two-bit cornerstore at this time of year. The majority of the day was spent happily driving about the coast, eating guilt-free junk food and whirling about upon the myriad amusement rides of Brighton Pier. I laughed and screamed until I was hoarse, spun until I was nauseous, and probably spent more money on the pier than on the ... read more

4th November 2005 Hove/Brighton, England. With tomorrow being my first ever birthday spent enitrely without even one family member, it was a lovely coincidence to discover that I was in the one country who could make up the deficit by celebrating en-masse with me. Not because my happiness is of particular concern, of course, but because I'd have the forsight to be born on Guy Fawke's Night, otherwise known as Bonfire Night. For those not in the know, Guy Fawke's is the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot, a conspiracy to blow up the English Parliament and King James I in 1605. Mr Fawkes, the head conspirator in the plot, was captured before the plan's completion and executed for treason. This is now celebrated annually in England with fireworks and bonfires, upon which effigies of Guy Fawkes ... read more

Well, only a few days to go before I get "on my bike" and catch friends and events all over the Uk during this summer. In fact, it kinda starts tomorrow, as I head-off to Swansea for a few days - meeting up with old friends, my lecturer who is soon to leave permanently for the Hague, and who has been a great friend for me these 5 years; and even some new people I've met over hi5, interestingly... I can't wait! I return from SWansea on Sunday, to celebrate Refugee Week and move house (and clean our present house - I'm taking the whole day off of course!); so it'll be Tuesday morning by the time I strap-down my tent, clothes, books andf guitar and set-off for Reading, so my grandparents will see me there ... read more

Well, I may be back in the UK , but don't think for one moment that I'm cured of the travel bug! Just now I've been plotting on a map-site my route around the UK for this July; taking the Earthing the Spirit Festival in Burnlaw, Northumberland (9th-17thJuly) as my benchmark; as well as the Baha'i Study courses at Cranmore in Somerset from 22ndJuly to 1st Sept. Leaving Brighton bright an' early on 1st July, I'll head swiftly to Reading to spend time with my grandparents. Spending a day there, I'll head-off the following morning to OXford, where many of my friends live, having a great day's sharing of music, stories and love; the next day (3rd) making my swift way to Leamington Spa, again having some wonderful times with friends in Southam, Stocton and Kenilworth, ... read more

Hey everyone! Maybe you haven't heard by now - but I'm back in the UK!!! yup - Brighton beach and uni of sussex have felt my scooter-steps, and our musical gathering last night was tainted by my india-inspired wailing... Thanks to all of my friends that made my trip possible - I know it's cheesy, but I wouldn't have got near india or even Brighton without so many bright souls prepared to trust me, listen to me and share their knowledge, love and resources with me; you all ROCK!
