So I woke up at like 4 in the morning and couldn't get anymore sleep cause of stupid snoring so I just listened to my mp3 player til daddy got up to take a shower then I slept some while he was doing that but then he went back to sleep and then I listened to my mp3 player some more then at 6:15 I woke Cindy up and we went to get some breakfast. And yeah we didn't do much until around 11 am... we got to see this glacier museum and it had a mirror maze in it too and that was kinda cool. Then daddy was tired so we had to go back to the hotel and laze around. I played some solitaire and listened to some music and then daddy got me ... read more

So with a lack of sleep we got breakfast early in the morning. It was a good breakfast buffet. Then we tried to figure out some stuff to do but decided to rest a bit more before doing something. After awhile of rest, we got some ice cream at the gas station. I got Swiss Chocolate ice cream and it was yummy. Then the girl who was at the hotel desk, since her shift was over and she was driving to the city, offered to give us a ride. During that ride I discovered that Switzerland is the first place in Europe that I saw speed limit signs! Oh... speaking of speed limits... I think London still uses miles because on some bus there it said it couldn't go more than 35 mph and I don't ... read more

Cold as in, blowing my nose like every 3 minutes. I think the people on the train were starting to get annoyed, besides the old Swiss/German/French (you never can tell) lady that kept smiling and talking to us even though we did nothing to respond other than nod our heads and smile... she was so cute. Actually all old people here are cute! I'm a few days behind on the blog as we are leaving Salzberg today but no worries I will not miss a thing! When we arrived in Lucerne, I was not in the best state but walking out of the train station and seeing different colored buildings along the clear blue river with bridge after bridge with flowers decorating the sides, I forgot about my cold for a second! When we got to ... read more

The train journey from Berlin to Basel went by relatively quickly despite its length and following that it was a short yet incredibly hot (no air conditioning) and noisy trip to Lucerne. It may have been very noisy but the scenery was pretty amazing. Switzerland looks a lot like the South Island of New Zealand with snow capped mountains, lush green fields and sparkling blue lakes. Upon our arrival at the train station we had a short walk to what turned out to be very nice accommodation located quite close to the river and 'Old Town' area. Our first day in Lucerne would have to one of the best we have had on the trip too. Firstly we took a cruise on Lake Lucerne which gave us absolutely stunning views of the Swiss Alps, Mt Pilatus ... read more

Rajesh woke me up at 7 am banging on my door and startling the other girls in my room, who asked me if he was my boyfriend. He was showered and ready and gave me a half hour to meet him for breakfast in the dining room. I was so hungry that I ate everything they had for breakfast and even drank 2 cappuccinos. Thank god it was free, else it would have been another rip-off! RV was picking us up in front of his office at Stockerstrasse at 10:00 am, so we took the tram #7 and decided to hit Bahnofstrasse and burn more Swiss francs. The shops open at 8 am and shut at 4 pm. They are closed on Sundays. If that was the case in the States, no one would go shopping! ... read more

July 7 Tobias (Toby) gave us a map of Luzern. It is a fucking small city. He told us we could see the city in about 3 hours. And that was entirely true. We loved every minute of it, though. The city has a huge lake, named Lake Luzern (weird, I know), and beautiful rolling green mountains all around it. Pair that with old bridges, walls, towers, and buildings, and you have a pretty fucking cool city. At about 50,000 people, it definitely is small, but that just adds to its character. So we walked around the city, saw the famous chapel bridge and walked up some old tower where you could see (basically) the entire city. It was beautiful. After this, there wasn’t much else to do but head back to Toby’s place. We bought ... read more

Tuesday 1st July Today is a complete blur as the antibiotics kicked in. Thankfully a travel day so spent most of the day dozing on the back seat of the bus. The guests headed into Locarno for 2 hours - said it was nice, but not unmissable - going up the Madonna del Stresa gave a nice view over the Lake! Headed over the Gotthard Pass which the guests now said was THE absolute highlight of the trip - beautiful views - could see them having a snowball fight from the safety of the coach - and one of those awesome mountain-top views! Arrived at the campsite 6.30pm, where Marzi was waiting for us. Was obviously about the crash into another thunderstorm, and all the tents were up in about 10 minutes flat. Dinner was held ... read more

I repeat: Lucerne is nowhere near as “quaint” as the guidebooks would have you believe. Once you get past that, which took us a while, it’s a fine city. We set out to see the “old city” of Lucerne, which is supposedly the finest instance of modern mixing with new. In reality, it’s far more new than old, but you can still find traces of the old with the city walls and random narrow alley/street. Getting to the old city brings you through the famous covered bridges, which are splendid, being lined with flowers and having illustrative paintings every few steps on the inside that tell the city’s history. It’s also overflowing with tourists so we hurried on to see the old city. We tried the same random walk here that’s worked so well during the ... read more
