Another early morning wake up this morning as we headed towards Barcelona. By mid-morning we had arrived in Pamplona to have a quick look around. We walked the narrow streets where every July they hold the famous running of the bulls. The streets are barricaded and lined with thousands of people who watch brave, if not crazy people, risk their lives being chased by bulls. We walked down some of the streets where the bulls run. They were mostly lined with tourist shops that sold every imaginable kind of bull related trinket. There was nothing too exciting here, just more shops like they have in every other city. Just knowing that this is where that famous annual event takes place was the real significance. We continued our walk to the stadium where the bull running ... read more

We boarded our coach this morning on our way to San Sebastian. Compared to my last 2 Contiki tours, the coach was extremely spacious. Mainly because there were only about 20 of us in a bus that seats 52. Colin gave us the usual spiel about what to expect on the tour and about the places we were going to. We also discussed the optional excursions. There were only 3 optionals: a trip to the Valley of the Fallen in Madrid, Flamenco dinner and show in Barcelona, and the final dinner in Madrid. We ended up paying for the 2 dinners. We were also introduced to our morning song. For this tour, we had No Doubt’s “It’s My Life”. After driving for about an hour through the suburbs of Madrid, we eventually made it to ... read more

For my fourth overseas trip, Shea and I decided to venture over to Spain. We took advantage of a special deal Contiki was offering where if you book by a certain date, the second person flies for only $100. After splitting the airfare in half, our round trip tickets to Spain via Germany were only about $450 per person. Months of planning and anticipation had finally arrived, it’s time to leave for Spain! As usual for me, my procrastination made the morning of May 18th into a mad rush to get some last minute things done. I had organize my finances, start packing, purchase some things at the store, as well as look for a battery charger. We left Simi Valley at around 12:15 to pick up Shea and head to the airport. But first ... read more

On my Switzerland I made a stop in the town of Figueres near the French border. This town is a real dive with one amazing site: the Dali muesum. Designed by the artist himself it's nothing like a mueseum and is more like a Surrealist playground. There tons of surrealist objects, hidden rooms, holograms etc. There is the Mae West apartment and a car suspended by chains filled with sea uchins. ... read more

Barecelona has some great stuff to do. I saw the sagrada familia, this cathedral although unfinished may be my favorite in Europe. I definately have noticed alot more is done since i was here 3 years ago. Hopefully they´ll finish it on time (50 years) so i can visit it when i´m 74. There´s always something going in the streets at any hour. i´ve seen people playing piano on the streets, flamanco dancers, rock bands, people in costumes..you name it. it´s a good way to see stuff. my hostel is on a really great square with wild stuff going on like people in foutains. The picassco muesum was inspiring to me as an artist..it made me really want to start working on music again, but i´m sure this trip will have lots of inspiration. Let´s see yesterday ... read more

Despite this I had a relaxing day seeing Toeldo´s great catherdral and seeing many works by ËL Greco¨ It´s definalty a one of a kind city. The nite train to Barcelona sucked becuase it was 500 degrees and there was fat guy snoring all nite..but I made it Barcelona to a cool hostel.... read more
