Ok, so I have some more internet time then I did yesterday. So I've met a lot of Canadians here so far, actually there was 8 of us together yesterday when we went to the Bull fights. I went a second time because everyone else hadn't gone yet so I went a gain with them. For under 5 Euros it's not bad. I didn't mention what I did the day before. I got in to Madrid and checked in and pretty well went and walked around I ended up around the Palaco Real, the royal palace. I took the tour. they have a really nice palace here. I also stopped at numerous churches. This same night i went to the bull fights with a girl I met randomly from South Korea. I also saw Kevin Rappel, ... read more

Hey, Im not sure if this travelblog thing is working. Regardless I will write a quick note. Today was crazy. It is the beginning of the Festival de San Isidro so the town is gearing up for a BIG party tomorrow night. This morning we woke up early and went to the cafe for breakfast. EVERYONE smokes everywhere you go, and they are not polite about it they blow it right in your face!! We took the subway to the Theatro Real, from there we walked all day and all night. We went to the Palace Real which was just amazing. We had lunch at the Plaza Meyor and cafe con leches in the Puerta Del Sol. If you could do a tour of Madrid in one day I think we did it. We went ... read more

Its lunch time Sunday and I’m back in London, the weather here has been mixed since I arrived back last Friday, showers in between bursts of sunshine however today its taken a turn back to winter . I had an amazing time in Spain developed new friendships and am so glad that I decided to come over here if initially studying Spanish each day was a little difficult. My limited vocabulary was my weakness during that first week in the language school yet it’s amazing how rapidly it developed mixing with both Spaniards and my friends studying Spanish in the language school. I will now work hard to maintain my friendships and we have agreed to regularly email each other (in Spanish) to keep up the practice. Living in Madrid with both friends and a ... read more

Finally in Madrid. It seemed like we walked forever off the concourse in a cooridor of glass and steel to get to an underground train which zipped us to the main terminal. The airport terminal was new and beautiful and I snapped a photo. The train was like a disney ride in a dark underground tunnel. After retreiving my luggage - with a sigh of relief, trying to find the airport shuttle desk was a pain. After confirming my reservation, a driver arrived about 15 minutes later, grabbed my suitcase and rushed back to the shuttle and my short legs were burning just trying to keep up with him. Riding in his shuttle was like being on another disney amusement ride in which it narrowly miss crashing into this or that. It seemed the entire ... read more

I woke to the alarm at 6:55 am. Oddly, my little finger hurt because I must have slept on it wrong. I did not get much sleep as even though I had been packing over the last 3 days, I would flop tired into bed, but then think of one last thing and get back up to pack it. I think I finally was able to fall asleep at midnight when I was certain I done. It is always this way before a big trip. I remembered my passport at the last minute. I need to get more organized! I forgot to pack my melatonin to help with the time difference. My son, Kazan, picked me up on time and drove me to the airport, Seatac. There was road construction and traffic was backed up ... read more

route so farHi Guys, Brook has been adding most of the text and will be filling in the Spain to Morocco entry soon. It´s all typed up on her phone. So I thought I would just add my own personal touch. We are now in Madrid after spending 5 days in Marrakech. It was a bit crazy there. Personally I think 5 days was 2 too many but we did go for a cool day trip to some cascades or waterfall a few hours from Marrakech. They were quite spectacular and we had a good walk down the ravine in which they run, stopping along the way for some excellent views of the falls and the pools below. I was the only one who stripped off and went for a swim. A bit cold but very ... read more

last night was a nice break. we went to movie...one in english with spanish subtitles...and then went on a quest to find food that wasn't in a bar at 22.30....1030 pm. then we went to bed at about 11 or 12. it was an nice change of pace. it's now our last day in madrid. so far it has been a good one too...we got up half way early this morning...well as early as we could, because we are sharing a room with 3 other girls who got up just as my alarm went off and jumped in the shower one right after the other before we could get in...so we left our hostel as early as we could. it was really sunny and warm out...which is a first for us here. we got some ... read more

so...we made it to madrid. and its really really cold here. okay...so not really cold, just windy. and last night we got caught in a rain storm...but we really like it here other than that. today everything is shut down because it´s their labor day. tomorrow is shaylea´s birthday and also their dos de mayo festival. they are setting up stages all over town...we are assuming they are for tomorrow, so that should be pretty cool. this morning we ventured out in the cold and made it as far as palacio real, a royal palace, but didn´t go inside because it´s closed today. we then found an internet cafe...and here we are. last night we explored the city a little and discovered the magical powers of tapa bars. you order a beer and they give ... read more
