Today was all about the food and taking in some spanish culture and chilling out! My kinda day! Ben had to leave by about 3pm and we were flying out tonight as well so we didnt have the full day but it was a good day! We started the morning in search of somewhere to have brunch! Turns out the spanish dont really do the whole brunch thing but we found a slightly dodgy looking bar slash pokies hangout that sold food! We got our bacon and eggs on stale rolls (which we saw all sitting open in an uncovered basket on the way down to the toilets. They looked like they had been there a while!) but it was edible and the fresh orange juice was a winner on the day!
After food we wandered around for a while taking in some of the sundayness of madrid. We found some shops and did a bit of window shopping knowing once ben had left we would head back so took some mental notes! We had been told about an awesome rooftop bar in madrid overlooking the city so we wandered trying to find that but when we did we were
unfortunately told that it was closed on sundays! so we were so disappointed cos it looked very cool! ah well time to find some more food and by this stage the sun was out in full ball, we were taking cardies off and rolling up pants embracing the sun and heat! We found a nice lil tapas place in one of the squares sitting outside ad even though we werent hungry we ordered a few tapas and had a few drinks just soaking it all up! Watching the world go by it was good times with all of us dreading heading back to London and Edinburgh 😞
Ben had to head home after this so we said goodbye and the girls all went shopping. Karla and I shopped up a storm buying tops, dresses and matching shoes! All for so so cheap! We were stoked! Then we all just went and got a coffee and sat in the sun again watching street performers and people watching for an hour or so! what a day! Once Kelly had to leave Karla and I decided even though we couldnt really fit any more food in we had to try out thiss ham
museum so we joined the chaoas that was the "museum" and lined up having to use some amazing charades to order our ham. My spanish in this department consisted of "jamon" - ham. Not much help when you are in a huge shop full of hanging pigs!!! Anyway we managed and sat down in the middle of a diff square in the sun to feed ourselves some pig and coissants! It was yummy thats for sure! After dinner we decided enough was enough prob and we had prob eaten enough for the weekend so headedout to the airport to go back to dreary cold london! But we had such an awesome weekend. So chilled out and so warm! I just love spain so much! the people, the vibe, the food...ah love it!
