We are finally back to the hotel! What a day! With an early rise, we had a quick breakfast, then are on the bus for a city tour. We saw Sagrada Familia (the never-ending building church), the Cathedral (can't remember the name), Gaudi buildings, etc. The tour ends at La Ramblas. La Ramblas is the main shopping / eating street of Barcelona. I launch straight into shopping. I bought a jacket and top in the first 2 shops. We take a break for lunch at Pan & Company (I think that's what it's called). We ordered 2 Funburgers! They are yummy! I guess it's Spain's version of Maccas. Next we souvenir shop down La Ramblas. Souvenirs are heaps cheaper here than anywhere else we've been in Europe. Actually most things are! We then walked to the ... read more

Nagy woke up at 6 am to watch the sunrise. I slept through it and didn’t wake up until 9 am. We asked everyone that passed by us how to get to St. Felia Monastery. We ended up walking 3 km and everyone gave us directions. We got so hungry and ended up eating at a café. We ate an egg omelet in a roll of bread. We took pictures in front of the monastery because it wasn’t open yet. We went to the grocery store and bought some chocolate. Then decided what we want to buy before we head back to the hotel and then went back to the monastery. We went inside the monastery and weren’t impressed at all. It was a historical museum and everything was in Spanish. And to top it off ... read more

We're in Spain! YAY!!! For those who don't know...Spain was the place I wanted to visit the most! I wouldn't even look at a tour unless it included Spain. I was expecting Spain to be like Rome. Crowded, hot, and not so clean. It isn't like that at all! We arrived about 3pm in the afternoon. It's not crowded, sunny with a cool breeze, and CLEAN! There are guys sweeping the streets! We are staying on Amrey Diagonal. It's a modern hotel. The most modern we've stayed at. Also...FREE INTERNET! That's right baby!!!! It's been costing us about 10-15 Euros for 2 hours wireless access from some hotels. Free is excellent! After updating my blog, checking email, etc...Todd and I get ready for our optional tour - dinner and show. We had dinner at a Spanish ... read more

We landed in London and had to take a transfer to Barcelona. When we got to Barcelona we had a guy waiting for us to take us to Hostel De La Gavina. We checked in and went to sleep. The weather was cold but sunny. We walked by the shore to a restaurant. We ate chicken and veal. We tried calling our parents but the pay phones wouldn’t work. Then it started to drizzle and we went back to the room. ... read more

Whew...it certainly has been a while since I´ve visited dear old blog, which means either we´ve been spending too much time sight-seeing or too much time partying. The truth lies in some hazy mess in between, but in the end all that really matters is that I am back. Soooooo...from Madrid we travelled south and west, and landed ourselves in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. The journey was our first night train of the trip, and let me tell you, not enjoyable. We did have our own private cabin including 4 beds and a wash basin, but glamorous train travel is not. The combination of radically changing air conditioning, shaking beds, and general noise of the train kept us tossing and turning all night, and upon our arrival at 9am we were looking a little less ... read more

I wish I could tell you something about Barcelona. But I spent only two days there, and one of them was sleeping. I blame my "landlord" who I'd lucked upon the previous night as I searched for accommodation in a local internet cafe (sensing a theme here? Pre-booking accommodation has not been my strong point!). He was offering rooms for rent, I was looking... and well, Juan's your uncle. A night at Sugar later and I was in tatters. Memories of Sugar in Adelaide came flooding back, and made my head hurt even more. Damn those Spaniards and their double shots. DAMN YOU BARCELONA! DAMN YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU! ... read more

Hey guys! Sorry its been a while since Ive updated. Traveling around with 3 other people, especially this group keeps me soooo busy! I pass out hard every night! Matt and his sister got in to Madrid on Sat morning. We immediately went to Avila which was a lot of fun to show them around. Avila was a good place to start out because there´s not much to do and we were all extremely tired, especially Matt and Beth because of the time change. It was fun to climb the walls and see the Four Posts at night though because I hadn´t done either of those. Sunday thru Monday night we were in Toledo. It was a nice city, not s great as I thought it´d be but still really pretty and fun. Matt and I ... read more
