----- Being in a car here is not the most relaxing experience, in fact I think that its one giant “Oh my God!” moment. I don’t think I would be able to adapt to driving here especially in roundabouts I still don’t understand how they work and I go through two at lest everyday. Another thing the speed limits here are quite crazy, I don’t think 70 km for a two way road in moderate disrepair that is to thin for to car to pass is very sane. The only thing in the favour here is that the drivers even though they have a need for speed seem to be aware of what’s going on. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh another thing this week my P.E class went on a field trip (excursion) to this canyon that was incredible. ... read more

Greetings- Well I am not sure when my last entry was...possibly in Ireland. Since then, we retreated back to London and spent the day organizing ourselves, relaxing and getting ready for Paris. We took the chunnel over to Paris on the 20th and we were really excited...feeling like our trip was ´about to really begin.´ Paris is truly a lively city...there is so much to see and do. Our hostel was in the Montmarte area which is full of small fabric shops, crepe shops and sex shops....quite an interesting mix. But nonetheless it was really cold. The next day, Tuesday we went out into the city to see the sights, but it was once again bone chilling cold. About 12:30 we had an epiphany...why not go to somewhere where it is warm? Thus we got on ... read more

We went to Barcelona for 5 days - it was great! Warmer and sunnier weather than the UK, lots to see and do… and eat and drink!! We got the train in from Barcelona airport to the city centre and checked into our hotel on Ronda St Antoni. On the way from the metro station we walked past one of Antoni Gaudi’s architectural creations - Casa Batllo on Passeig de Gracia. It was built between 1904 and 1906. I have read descriptions of Gaudi’s various creations which have used the words “organic” and “wave like”. The house was great to see - a flavour of what was to come. It is said to illustrate the victory of Sant Jordi (St George) over the dragon, and the façade is coved in mosaic glazed blue, green and ochre ... read more

Went to Barcelona with my cousin Sheleen. Had a great time with her and did lots and lots of walking!!! Got to see most of everything I wanted, but at least it gives me a reason to go back to see the things I didn't get to see! So we landed in Reus Airport and made our journey to the city to our hotel. Left our bags in our hotel room and started off straight away... no time to lose!!! Started in the Gothic Quarter at the Cathedral of Barcelona which was beautiful!!! So much detail, so much to look at!!! Walked down lots of alleys and small cobbled streets and saw a lot of entertainers on the streets doing their thing! It was surprisingly hot, so it was pretty packed! Walked all the way from ... read more

It is so beautiful here I can’t believe it. I’m staying 3 hours North West of Madrid. The town where I go to school is Olmeden. The town where I live; I don’t know its name; is very small and beautiful as well. All the buildings are very old, but not at all ugly, there worn down look just gives them character and beauty. The town speaks to my soul. I was sad and uneasy when I arrived last night but when the sun come up and the birds started chirping and I looked out my window and saw and old stone church with a clock on it and the white cobble stone road in front of it my worries were eased. It was as if the beauty of it all made it impossible for anything ... read more

Tuesday, February 28, is the national holiday of Andalucia. The Spaniards create a “Puente” and take off Monday as well so I had a four day weekend to travel! I flew out of Seville with 6 other girls to explore the city of Barcelona. The timing was perfect as it was right after exams. Which, by the way, thank you for all the prayers because I was very prepared. With amazing connections of one of my friends, we stayed in a beach house right outside of Barcelona in Sitges. The village is 35 Km south of Barcelona, right on the Mediterranean coast. It is full of vacation homes and during the Spanish holiday there was a carnival going on. This area is also popular for gay communities, so that was quite shocking. Over the weekend I ... read more

Last weekend I decided against traveling but this weekend we decided to go to Barcelona. For Valentine’s Day, Chris sent me pink roses and mi familia gave me a little wooden jewelry box! Katie-Rose also visited this week and we had a great time going to the market and eating lots of candy. For the past two Fridays my art class has taken excursions to the Prado Museum to see the works of El Greco, Velazquez, and Goya, as well as the many other painters that we are not studying. I have had two phone interviews in the past two weeks for summer internships, one with Pulte Homes and the other with Echostar Communications, hopefully I can get a great job! Anyway, now for this weekend’s happenings: so after our second tour of the Prado, Kristen, ... read more
