Hello world ! Present location is on board the las Palmas - Huelva ferry about one hour out of Las Palmas. The Wifi here on board seems to have a problem so it will be a while before this goes live. This morning was an early start with my alarm going off at 05.30 , not really my time of the morning ! After a quick shower I went down to the always amazing breakfast in the Santa Catalina. This morning I had the whole room to myself and enjoyed a nice slow start to the day. I am still not really on holiday because I tend to think in time bites. Fifteen minutes to eat,ten to pack and ten to get to harbor , etc. I look forward to the feeling of not being tied ... read more

So first things first! Happy St Georges Day… So its 4:15 in the afternoon, its my 27th Birthday and it has to be the hottest day we have had so far, so I am quite happy that we have had another day of chilling out in our room, lazing in the sun listening to music, and reading books etc.… It has just this moment become to hot for me, (wuss) so I have retreated inside to update the travel blog for Saturday & Sunday… Saturday was, like today, a day where Maddy and myself just chilled out and didn’t do a great deal, which has been nice, punctuating the days out with a few days of lazing around… Sunday morning we walked down to the Los Cristianos Sunday market, where pretty much, every stall is trying ... read more

So as I said in the last blog, Maddy wanted to do the update for this one as she was so excited about going, so read on and enjoy... Okay, so the alarm goes off at 7.15 and we snooze it a couple of times, you would have though that after my excitement the previous day and night that I would be up and ready to go out the door!! Once we are up, Sam realized what the time was and decided that we had no time for breakfast, this made me sad as I didn’t want to become hungry and grumpy. We waited at reception for our 8.40 pick up which didn’t happen until 9. It took about an hour and 15 mins to get to Loro Parque in our fully air-conditioned (cold) coach. The ... read more

So day two of mine and Maddy’s honeymoon, I would say another quiet chilled out day, which considering the visit to Loro park tomorrow is a good think, I have never seen Maddy so excited about a day out... but you will be able to read all about that adventure tomorrow evening... After breakfast, Maddy and I just chilled in our room and out on the terrace sunning ourselves, Maddy snoozed while I read more of George R R Martins epic “ A Song if Ice and Fire” saga, for those interested I am reading book 5 “ a Feast for Crows”, until lunch time, which starts at 1pm for the buffet here, so we headed down to have a quick bite, I also took some time to sort a few things out, using the hotels ... read more

So here I am, tethered to my iPhone's 3G connection at 11:50pm (thankfully the time in tenerife is the same as back home in the UK) deciding what to right in a travel, blog, I think I may already be nearing my 50mb limit, so I may have to make a mosey to receptiom over the next few days to make these uploads, the joy of modern technology :) We arrived at Tenerife's south airport yesterday afternoon and were comfortably in our room by 3:30ish... Yesterday was a long one for both me and Maddy, considering we had been awake since the early hours of the morning, the 4:30 alarm to get ourselves to Bristol was not to welcome... We checked-in, in the amazing looking reception of the Marylanza and once we were in the room, ... read more

Our next stop was Tenerife. We decided to go for a whale watch. Imagine our surprise when we learned that the "whales" were actually dolphins. Feel compelled to call BS on that one. Anyway, we boarded a catamaran with a bunch of other lazy tourists and were taken out to sea to watch for these whale/dolphins. The sea was blue, the sky was blue, the sun was shining, and there was free wine. This was excellent. Our expert guide was able to find a number of dolphins for us to look at. It's so neat they'll swim lazily alongside the boat and they're like gently undulating monoliths. They looked so fat and funny I just wanted to poke them. This is not allowed unfortunately. I kept wanting to stand up on the rails to better see ... read more

Just before Christmas 2011, I temporarily(?) abandoned my backpacker roots and opted for a very grown up "All inclusive" week in the sun at Gran Melia Palacio De Isora in the Canarian Island of Tenerife. I could seriously get used to this type of break, especially at this time of year. The hotel was wonderful, the staff friendly, the food excellent and the weather fantastic. We stayed at Sensatori for the whole week and only ventured out once, to pick up a moped in Las Americas and take a ride out to Mazca, a mountainous area on the North West of the island. All in all, it was fantastic, would go back in a second if I could : )... read more

We arrived at Madrid at about 6.30am this morning after an 8 hour flight. During that time the clocks also went back, which made it even worse. We have another 5 hour wait for our flight to Tenerife. To try to make this a little more relaxing, we have booked a lounge for the duration, which we believe is near to the gate that our plane will leave from. Whenever we visit Madrid airport, we always seem to get lost. When we got off the plane from San Juan, we asked at the first information desk where the lounge was. We were advised that we would need to exit the gates and ask at an information desk there. We did this, and were advised to go further out of the airport. We then asked another information ... read more

Harry here again today with one of his colleagues to do some of the smaller jobs. We had a discussion about the earlier discussed works and we agreed to completely refurbish the two bathrooms, remove the sink under the stairs and plumb in the washing machine, putting in a new tap in the kitchen. He is also going to remove the planters from the driveway and retile the exposed areas. This will be a great help when we need to park the car on the villa drive. He was trying to replace the water flow into the downstairs toilet, but it needed a new part, so we have asked him not to do it as the toilet will be replaced soon. Harry will be in early November to complete all the agreed works. We had another ... read more

After last nights events with the cats we are not sure if we are going to be able to get either of the cats to the cattery, so were contemplating asking the neighbour after all. At about 11am, Whisky calmly walked down the drive and started meowing constantly. It seems like we have a friend now. The two cats are never going to be the best of friends, but they are at least tolerating each other now. Looks like we will be able to get them to the cattery after all. ... read more
